I misread this image so badly that I can only really hope to illustrate what I saw.

( Also a good excuse for an #art study )

Hey, hey! I've made my @rpgsite.net (and game critic) debut with a deeeeeep dive look at a game I've been anticipating for years: @somethingclassic.bsky.social's Quartet.

How does it compare to recent retro revival RPGs like Chained Echoes, Sea of Stars, and Eiyuden Chronicle? Let's find out.
Inspired by RPGs of the '90s, Quartet is Something Classic's proof that they've grown up and become more confident with age, and that there's room for continued growth to match their ambition. Our review: https://www.rpgsite.net/review/18986-quartet-review

Noting the congressional pension is based on service time, it kicks in at 5 years and her retirement date - Jan. 5, 2026 - will be the first business day after she passes five years since her first swearing in. bsky.app/profile/heli...
Any idea why she's quitting then? Her statement isn't very coherent (big surprise), although it would make more sense as an explanation of just not running for re-election.

If you were wondering how Fox is playing Mamdani/Trump:

Hannity (paraphrase): "This scene is profoundly disturbing to Democrat leftists. Here is their Communist hero, shaking hands with the man he has denounced as a despot. The left doesn't know what to think.'

There is quite a bit of Republican pushback to Trump's attempt to gut the Department of Education, not just from moderates but from the Appropriations subcommittee chair.

I feel like this ties into one of my most controversial opinions, even among my friends. That is, I'm interested in almost any type of music, except if it's by 3-5 white men. Solo acts and duos sometimes overcome the inertia of white dude-ism, and big bands have too much chaos for it to often root
lots of ppl believe in the myth of meritocracy. "if it's successful, it must be good!"

but, just for starters, why were the Beatles successful in a way Ray Charles was not? was that meritocracy? or did it have something to do with racism? 1
What we think about Sgt Pepper is less important than what people thought in ‘67: HOLY SHIT!

The internet runs on contrarianism, reification of opinion, and presentism.

But the overwhelming esteem for Pepper—lasting at least until 2000—suggests that it is “one of The Beatles‘ best albums.“

What makes a banana republic a banana republic is not any prosecution of the outgoing administration, but baseless, politically motivated prosecution. There is a whole literature which teaches that, if crimes against the public order occurred, failing to prosecute them hastens democratic decline.

People are treating this like a stupid comment, because why wouldn't the liberal agenda be on the liberal site?

But as someone that drifts through conservative spaces from time to time to see what they're thinking, it could almost make sense: they subsist on enraging stories that we never even hear

Archaeologist here. For 99.5% of human history (ca 300-400,000 years), we were peaceful (no war). There was conflict and smaller scale violence, but countless studies on the 119 known modern hunter gatherer groups show cooperation, negotiation, and peace instead of conflict. Please read books.
Revenge/physical combat was how people settled things for literally millions of years, it's normal human behavior, we're wolves not sheep, the government project trying to social engineer us and domesticate us into sheep has been unsuccessful
