It's hard to pick from the rogues gallery of murderous ideas, but sometimes I feel the most dangerous thing about modern conservatism is its transparent desire to destroy the fabric of truth in daily life.

The early internet itself is one of those terms that could describe so many different things depending on who you ask. Does it mean ARPANET? Does it mean the early network of USENET? Does it mean early internet cultural sites like Newgrounds and SomethingAwful? Is Myspace "early internet"? Depends!
the metaverse is an example of why "it reminds me of the early internet" is a really poor heuristic

Yes. Related thought: I think Musk and other high level people at Tesla should face criminal charges for any deaths caused by their cars’ “Mad Max” mode.
And should have wrongful death liability exposure imo

There is no pile of gold that we can take to have universal healthcare without having to increase taxes generally, no. But there *is* a loaded fucking gun we need to take out of their hands, yeah.
It may sound radical, but if one guy has so much wealth and power that he can use the large newspaper he owns to publicly threaten to ruin a service we all rely on, presumably as a bargaining tactic to get lower rates, we probably need to tax that guy until he can't do that anymore.
Exclusive: Amazon has long been USPS’s top customer, providing over $6 billion in annual revenue in 2025.

But Amazon may give up its long-standing partnership with USPS to deliver packages itself, which could spell disaster for the mail agency.

The biggest question in American politics right now is that even if Democrats manage to reseize the federal government in 2028, there is no concrete plan about what to do with the Republican Party that has made illiberalism and authoritarianism the foundation of its movement for the last decade.

American liberal democracy cannot rest on the idea that Democrats must win in perpetuity. Either the GOP must regain a commitment to shared democratic values or else the party must be permanently crippled to the point where it's no longer a viable political force.

One of the reasons that they hate sex ed is they do want young girls getting pregnant. They want young girls getting pregnant and then to use the fact that they got pregnant to make them part of a permanent subjugated and beholden class that often has to navigate survival via sexual access to men

Transit agency boards should be directly elected so that people who actually use mass transit can govern those agencies rather than giving useless local elected officials yet another set of public services to ruin.

Trump hires new White House ballroom architect
Although the president and the original architect had clashed over the size of the project, the decisive factor was the small firm’s limited capacity to handle such an enormous project.

Things are deteriorating so quickly as the full weight of American fascism comes to bear it’s really hard to fully explain to people even having done this for years now.

Americans have no understanding what it is going to take to destroy the machinery of fascism and the scaffolding it is building
