"We must be careful about judging people from the past using our own, modern moral framework" is one of those things I hear repeated uncritically so often because it kind of sounds wise. It has a flavor of erudition and fairness. But I think it's quite uncomplicatedly correct to say: "No we don't."

Canonically, Morpheus died during the events of The Matrix Online.
After "film trilogy that dropped a critical plot point exclusively via timed Fortnite event" and "video game series whose story only makes sense if you're aware of the events of a canon pachinko machine", I feel like there are whole frontiers of user-hostile narrative design waiting to be explored.

another incredible study showing that giving people money stops them from being poor, no matter how counter-intuitive it seems
An Oregon pilot program giving cash to homeless youths sees a staggering reduction in homelessness. The program gave participants $1,000 cash payments each month for two years, and at the end of the project's first phase, 91% of participants reported being in stable housing.

I'm going to start saying games that don't use the Early Access label but release moderately to very broken are in their "Jank Year." We're currently at the beginning of EU5's Jank Year. Certain games have to repeat a year. Skylines 2 is somehow heading into its third Jank Year.

MIT’s NANDA initiative found that 95% of generative AI deployments fail after interviewing 150 execs, surveying 350 workers, and analyzing 300 projects. The real “productivity gains” seem to come from layoffs and squeezing more work from fewer people not AI.
MIT report: 95% of generative AI pilots at companies are failing
There’s a stark difference in success rates between companies that purchase AI tools from vendors and those that build them internally.

The guy they cast as Link looks like the most American Eagle fall catalogue white boy they could have conjured from all of the infinite worlds of the multiverse. If he can act that's almost unfair, but I guess Link doesn't really need to.

EU5 tips become irrelevant like two hours after you post them, what a time to be alive.
Trade capacity is the biggest money maker. I focus on that almost exclusively as long as I don't have buildings missing input goods.

Paradox and Colossal Order "mutually decided to pursue independent paths" and Skylines 2 is being moved to another studio. I guess something had to give eventually, and I suppose I'm glad they're not just sunsetting the whole thing at this point.

Thanks to one of @flixbus.es’s drivers I ended up on the wrong bus on my way home, missed my last connection and now their customer service won’t even reimburse me or put me up with an alternative bus.

So if anyone wants to help me pay for my trip home:
