So - I've actually led Ebola outbreak response at USAID.
This is bunk from Elon. They have laid off most of the experts, they're bankrupting most of the partner orgs, have withdrawn from WHO, and muzzled CDC.

Arguably we are overdue for what is happening now. I think that's why so many communities of color are upset but not spiraling. White people are experiencing our reality. Trust the government? Why? The US government unified to oppress and not much else. Certainly not to progress

The transformative promises are a product of an electorate that wants to have an elected autocrat in charge (or thinks we already have one), and the disappointment when they don’t happen is a product of those promises’ contact with mere reality.

I'm just a small-town political scientist, but if I were a Democratic politician, my party had just gained House seats, barely lost the Senate in an awful map year, & missed the WH by <120K votes in 3 states, I'd be everywhere yelling about how wildly unpopular the fascism is. But what do I know? 🤷♂️
