Pretty simple answer to this question, it’s because Sam Alito is steeped in right-wing grievance culture and views himself as entitled to deference and respect from everyone he encounters
ANALYSIS: Samuel Alito keeps getting his way. So why does he seem so unhappy? | CNN Politics
Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito has a remarkable record of transforming his old dissenting opinions into the new majority view and setting the direction of the law in America.

I’m sorry, this is just not correct. There were members that wanted to impeach Trump on Jan. 6.

Many people said if you waited, GOP outrage would fade. It did.

Pelosi spent days only cautiously committing to impeach, and fussing around with absurd stuff like 25th Amendment remedies.
McConnell adjourned the senate for two weeks the next day. There was no slow walk and this idea that republicans could have been tricked into being good but we just decided not to is giving them an out they don’t deserve.

Also, the Nazi winking troll technique that has become completely omnipresent in US government social media. It's out of control. The whole game is to drop as many clues as possible while never quite explicitly endorsing neo-Nazism, so if you accuse them of it they can say you're paranoid.
"Western civilization," the font, the 11 stars - 11 states in the confederacy, for the record.

Why is this never news? Why are we letting our government agencies do this sort of thing while the news agencies report on hallucinated trade deals and act like everything is normal

Shutdown demand should be that Rs have to “stop destroying healthcare” and a suite of key policies, specifically

- restore ACA subsidies permanently
-reverse Medicaid cuts
-get rid of RFK Jr, restore CDC officials, and overrule any antivaxx BS
-restore all healthcare-related research funding
I think it would be good if Dems could, as Ezra Klein suggests, rally around a narrow set of goals for the budget fight and stick to their guns on a shutdown as alternative to those goals.

The New York Times was more skeptical of the academic qualifications of a black woman who had secured tenure and become the president of Harvard than they were of a white man who washed out of a grad program with a massive scandal and then became a white nationalist troll.
The saga of the NYT's anti-Mamdani story taken from notorious white supremacist Jordan Lasker (they call him an "academic") gets even more amazing: Lasker's only impactful paper, which claimed white people are smarter, is infamous: it misused data so badly it got his tenured co-author fired. 2/

the fundamental difference between Cuomo and Zohran was not on policy.

it was simply clear that Zohran loves New York and Cuomo hates it
tbh given how our mayoral election and our city council election went, i think the local takeaway for local politicians is TAKE PRIDE IN THE CITY AND RUN ON THAT
plenty of my fellow libposters will say that the mayoral race of new york does not matter nationally, and they are mostly right, but what does matter is that good, charismatic campaigns work, and i would like to see my libposters give some credit to that.

You’re kidding.

It's easy to forget now but we had decades of steady advancement on trans rights. The 2016 bathroom bills invited huge backlash! It was only after the media constructed sports and youth medications as 'debates' that opposition moved from the far right to the polite center.
The repression of trans people is not, by and large, a grassroots outpouring of hatred from the American people. It's something that's been carefully planted and tended over years by a handful of media people and their pet reporters.
Heightened Scrutiny, a very good doc about the Supreme Court case that was just ruled on, does an impeccable and infuriating job laying out just how culpable the NYT and Atlantic are for the nation’s transphobia www.avclub.com/sundance-202...

Also, the way that every event, no matter how shocking or horrible or unprecedented, gets fed into the far-right social media hallucination machine, and twisted beyond recognition until it supports the far-right's own nonsensical worldview, is the very core of why we are where we are as a society.
