This morning, President Trump declared a “public safety emergency” in Washington, DC and deployed the National Guard onto our streets. This is NOT safety. It is an unconstitutional power grab that threatens the rights of DC residents.

MA residents, please join me in calling DA Ryan and DA Hayden's office to demand a response to the kidnapping of people off city streets, by ICE.

The Governor has a lot of power! But don’t forget the District Attorneys!

Middlesex DA Ryan: 781 897 8300
Suffolk DA Hayden: 617 619 4000

In my city there is one cybertruck and one DIY parody of a cybertruck and the parody truck has become a local celebrity. Meanwhile, I always wish I had some rotten eggs to throw at the tesla whenever I see it.

True story: a few years ago, I was being interviewed by a reporter for the New York Times. I mentioned the history of eviction statutes and how they tied into Jim Crow.

The reporter asked "what's Jim Crow?"

When I explained, the reporter didn't believe me and said the US wouldn't do that.

Decades of confirmation hearings where women testify to abuse and sexual violence, only for the men in question to rise to higher positions of power, is a perfect encapsulation of why more victims don’t come forward.

I wonder how this is going to effect ongoing, long-term longitudinal studies.

How many years/decades are we setting ourselves back?

Anti-intellectualism sucks.
NIH appears to have canceled/postponed all of its study sections—the independent review panels that approve federal grants for health research.

Such grants fund the work/salaries of 300k people at more than 2,500 institutions
All NIH study sections canceled indefinitely. This will halt science and devastate research budgets in universities.

Today I counted more than 50 subreddits that went through with banning links from X, reaching more than 40 million combined members. At least 20 million of those members were encouraged to join Bluesky, instead.

More than 50 Reddit communities ban X links to protest Musk
The cascade of link bans came after Musk made a hand gesture at a Monday rally that many compared to a Nazi salute, which many cited in their protests, among other things.
