I wonder when Seth Rogen is gonna have his Albert Brooks in Drive moment. Feels like he’s got a good villain turn in him (Observe and Report aside)

A listener on the Everything App asked me for a movie to pair with my Court of Owls episode, so I went ahead and did one for all of them:

1. Arkham Asylum: The Green Knight
2. The Batman: Manhunter
3. The Long Halloween: Blow Out
4. The Saga of Ra’s al Ghul: Lawrence of Arabia

In my opinion all movies are Christmas movies, because every one is a gift :-)

Just finished this massive pod. Walt deftly walks you through the miasma of Operation Condor, imperialist blowback, Desert Storm, Timothy McVeigh, and 90s action movies in order to provide (imo) the definitive statement on Knightfall. In terms of sheer production, his best ep yet. Essential.
NEW (PREMIUM) EPISODE! Together with @cacomixpod.bsky.social, we're diving into the vast expanse of KNIGHTFALL, the Bat-epic that introduced Bane and Azrael to Gotham in the process of laying the Caped Crusader low—a glimpse of the nameless dread mounting at the end of history.

It's the question on everyone's mind: what do thermodynamics, Desert Storm, Operation Condor, Milton Friedman, domestic terrorism, MKUltra, The Bourne Ultimatum, and the death drive have to do with a largely mediocre Batman saga from the '90s? You'll have to listen to find out.

Several years ago, I got the grad school itch again and met with my history professor for advice. He sent me a link to the same job board he looks at, and I changed my mind pretty quickly when I saw there were fewer than 100 tenure-track positions available in the US and the UK *combined*.
I keep telling brilliant students not to get PhDs not because they aren't capable, but because if I show them the job boards for the last couple of years and the graphs, not even the fabled hubris of an undergrad who wants to be a professor can get through. There are no jobs.

The guy they got to play Roose Bolton in Game of Thrones really was terrific. Shame the show beefed it so hard

We're covering Batman: Venom, the original Sword of Azrael miniseries, The Vengeance of Bane, the prelude to Knightfall, then Knightfall itself. KnightQuest and KnightsEnd get a brief mention toward the end, but the episode really climaxes with Batman #500.
So excited to listen to this! I only recently started a Knightfall proper read to prep for this- what's the material I should be covering? I'm going off of that nine-part tpb set DC released a decade ago (prelude to knightfall, knightfall pt 1 &2, knightsend, etc.)
