As the days get shorter, I’m reminiscing about sunrise over the Pacific in Korea this stiflingly hot summer, when I was convinced I couldn’t wait for chilly winter weather.

I miss Korea, and I almost (gasp) miss summer.

But duh, she isn’t the kind of woman who ruined the workplace, so.
Between the Epstein shit and the NYT glamorization of Olivia Nuzzi -- idealizing her as a female journalist -- this week is just... I can't

Today my toddler waddled out the door as usual with a huge smile on his face…then he felt the wind and snow flurries on his face..then he staggered back inside crying, utterly defeated.

I feel like this is an important aspect to emphasize, loudly, to everyone who endorsed Cuomo. they chose to side with a known sexual predator for personal gain and frankly that should be disqualifying for public office. you knew who he was and decided the women he hurt were acceptable losses
it's been a really bad long shitty time for people who care about victims of rape and sexual abuse, and those who've suffered it. drubbing someone who perpetrated it gleefully and believed he was entitled to power despite it is part of this.

Not good, shouldn’t be normal.

Generosity is the linchpin of morality.
WP just raging about Mamdani being a class traitor to the moneyed class. Implicit in their statement is that it's good and normal for anyone born into wealth (even relatively modest wealth, not just billionaires) to adopt a worldview of "fuck you got mine" and resist improving the lives of the poor.

Also, well done, Bluesky. Tonight’s live skeeting of this crazy game felt almost like old times on Twitter.

Holy cow that game felt like it was never going to end. But wow.

I was asked to be on a bi-partisan committee supplying congress with information on food insecurity.

Yes, there are going to be A LOT of people surprised when they see the extent of our fellow citizens who use SNAP (about 40 million, lots of veterans) and WIC (over 6 million) programs.
Did you know that over 1.3M active duty service members and veterans rely on SNAP benefits to feed themselves and their families?

Now you know.

The daring jewel heist at the Louvre was a masterclass in efficient planning, skill and organisation. It's imperative that the culprits are now apprehended and asked to form a government.

This is the life.
Highland cattle are famous for their ability to "disco nap". Normally these brief, efficient sleeps will last between three and twenty minutes, deploying a variety of objects as pillows, including moorland boulders, cars or any particularly large dog or sheep who happens to be nearby.

Good morning, beloved.

If you cannot see the light, try to be the light. Even if you fail, you’ll remember that we don’t have to settle for darkness.

Today is a great day to overcome evil with good.

To be very clear, the actual war against Christianity is the people who use the cross as a means to carry out the most heinous acts against the same people Christ would have left the flock to comfort

@josiahhawthorne.bsky.social you know bees.

Have you ever seen bears rip open the exterior wall of a house to get to a hive behind the siding?

A reminder, since so many people comment “paywall” when article links are shared:

Many library systems let you access hundreds of newspapers & magazines via apps like PressReader. Major publications that are paywalled online are probably already free to you if you have a library card.

Sunday post: People are more likely to support partisan violence if they think the other party does too

This gives us an incredibly powerful tool for reducing mass political violence: Sharing the real (very low) numbers on how many people actually support it

Something I’m thinking about again today is our proximity to the physical sites of extreme violence.

I’ve been within a mile or two of the locations of over a dozen mass-murders/news-dominating murders before any of those murders happened.

And this is just normal when violence is so commonplace.

Let me say the same thing today, in the wake of Charlie Kirk's death, as I said when Brian Thompson was assassinated, when the CDC campus was shot & a police officer lost his life, and when school shootings happen:

*Violence is never the answer.*

Our rhetoric & actions need to make that clear. 💔
