I’ve acquired these six volumes (of 7 published to date), formerly owned by Harry Belafonte, of The Papers of Martin Luther King Jr. As racist resegregationists have captured the White House we need now more than ever the astonishing courage, public moral vision, and works of MLK Jr.

BREAKING: At Pope Leo XIV’s urging, U.S. Catholic bishops just delivered the strongest rebuke of a sitting president in Church history — condemning Trump-Vance raids as “inhumane” and “dehumanizing” in a 216–5 vote.
NEW: At Pope Leo’s Urging, Bishops Issue Historic Rebuke of Trump’s Raids
Nearly all U.S. Catholic bishops united in Baltimore to denounce the Trump administration’s “inhumane” deportation campaign — a near-unanimous, unprecedented moral stand against a sitting president.

The Kremlin disguised a nearly $100 mn payment to Trump in the form of a brokered real estate deal... and both Jeffrey Epstein and William Pulte were involved in the deal. That's very interesting.

Damn they're going into the FBI blackmail files
My god (sorry I’m late on a bunch of this stuff. But wow!)

According to this NYT report, the head of the FBI and the Attorney General are holding meetings *in the Situation Room* with GOP lawmakers they are trying to pressure to rescind their votes to release the Epstein info. This is madness.

No northern lights last night—maybe tonight—in Kalamazoo and all of LP Michigan. The only lights in town were from Waldo Stadium where Western Michigan University defeated Ohio U in a nationally televised football game and took over sole possession of first place in the MAC.

Lawrence O’Donnell tonight made me stop and think, when normally he bores me with his slow-moving repetitious style supporting things I already believe. I think he’s wrong tonight and on Schumer; I think Elizabeth Warren (my first choice), Klobuchar, Duckworth, Murphy could all do the job.

100 million Americans owe $220 billion in medical debt.
80% had insurance of some kind.
550K Americans annually declare medical debt bankruptcy.
68K Americans die annually because they lack insurance.
Trump clueless; all but a few lack the money and wisdom to purchase decent non-group insurance.
Trump: "I want the money to go into an account for people where they buy their own health insurance. It's so good. The insurance will be better. It'll cost less. Everybody is gonna be happy. They're gonna feel like entrepreneurs. They're actually able to go out & negotiate their own insurance"

At what became CSU-Pueblo tuition in 1970s $200/quarter, $600/year. Today, $12.5K/year.

At UCLA in 1979 tuition was $200/quarter, $600/year; by 1988 it was $500/q, $1500/y. Today, $14K/y.

At Western Mich U in 1993 state provided almost 80% of our budget; today around 20%. $15.8K/y.

As recently as the late 1980s, tuition at @uwmadison.bsky.social was <$1000/semester. In current dollars, that's about $2500/semester. There is one central reason for that: the . This was a choice. Other choices remain readily available.

Democrats have been fighting for months to address America's healthcare crisis

For the millions who will lose coverage
For people with cancer who won't get the care they need
For working families who can't afford to pay $25K more a year for healthcare

We will keep fighting
