"Understanding" is a pretty beautiful compound word...in this case "under" has a somewhat archaic meaning of "among" (also still present in "under these circumstances.")

So understanding is "Standing among" as-in a mind that figuratively shares space with the concepts in question.

Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans just made it more expensive to become a doctor, dentist, or lawyer for working-class students.

You shouldn’t have to be from a wealthy family to get an education in America.

A disabled vet says he was wrongfully detained in last week’s Camarillo raid, despite being a U.S. citizen.

• Reporting for his security job at Glass House Farms
• Told them he was a citizen
• No charges. No phone call. No lawyer.
• No care after chemical exposure

There are 100k students in med school each year. Room and board is about 100k per year. For 10b a year, med school could be free. We would see a wholesale change in the profession, career paths and the cost of care.

It would change the economics for every financial decision doctors
Republican plans to cap student borrowing could shatter an everyday profession
One GOP senator said anyone paying more than $100K to go to med school is "making a huge mistake." But the median cost of attending one is more than double that for the class of 2025.

As is, there’s a predicted shortage of 80,000 US physicians by the end of the decade.

Now add in new restrictions to foreign grads, federal loan caps, declining salaries, increasing demands, disrespect, and moral injury.

Nutrition, exercise, and supplements can only do so much.

A provision tucked inside a sweeping bill signed into law by President Trump last week will make it harder for thousands of aspiring doctors to finance their education as the country faces a growing shortage in that profession.
Medical students fret over the new student loan cap in the 'big, beautiful bill'
The bill will cap total medical loans at $200,000 — far below the more than $300,000 median cost of attending medical school.

I haven’t seen a lot of people speak about this, but snuck into the big beautiful bill included a section capping student loan allowances at $200,000.

This will largely be impacting those looking to borrow money for doctoral degrees - PHD, JD, MD, DO.

The path is very clear: Republicans are creating a system to allow anybody—you, me, whoever—to have their citizenship revoked, sent to a prison camp in the Everglades, then exported to a labor camp in a third-world country. That entire pipeline could be in place in 24 hours.
Trump calls for deporting US citizens: "We also have a lot of bad people that have been here for a long time ... many of them were born in our country. I think we ought to get them the hell out of here too, if you want to know the truth. So maybe that'll be the next job."

My FYP is video after video of pre-med students explaining how the big bill’s student loan cap will make it impossible for them to afford med school. Experts were already predicting a doctor shortage to the tune of 86k by 2036. This will make it exponentially worst. www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8hFxfBL/
The government just ended my ability to even apply to medical school, it’s no longer an option because private student loans would lead to absolute financial ruin. All of my work for the past 5-8 year...

Glad someone is seeing this. I, as a premed without wealth, am among the affected. Not only does this hamper your ability to matriculate with an acceptance, it makes it harder to apply. If you turn down an acceptance, schools will blacklist you, so it’s not worth the risk if you know you can’t pay.
