material science, loud music, and old films
An organization known for cartoonish levels of villainy was able to gain access to the POTUS *for months* and all it cost them was a cheap gold medal. Amazing.

There are a lot of really horrific examples of “it can always get worse” in world history but I find Sepp Blatter to Gianni Infantino hits just the right note of bleak whimsy.

Cw: suicide
This article is devastating.

Earlier this month, a 15-year-old died by suicide the day after posting about a substitute teacher insisting on misgendering him.

Suicide can have many contributing factors. His family is speaking out about bullying and misgendering as two.

An executive order to ban state AI laws WOULD BE *FLAGRANTLY* UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

Can we please please PLEASE lead w THAT!

Stop just laundering patently illegal and unconstitutional moves as if they’re just normal policy moves.

It’s not hard to frame this correctly!

xAI is currently in talks to raise $15 billion at a $230 billion valuation.

The flagship product is self-identified "MechaHitler" chatbot with training so warped it describes Elon Musk as more physically fit than LeBron James. It is powered by gas turbines poisoning South Memphis.

Not satisfied with just destroying their own brand goodwill, OS companies are now using AI to try to destroy the good names of the apps users install. (Scrivener taking out adds to explain how it has no AI but Apple adds some anyway.)

my wife and her entire team were fired over Zoom from their program manager jobs at a local nonprofit Seattle hospital this Spring because Trump just stopped paying Medicaid reimbursements. and this is a relatively affluent urban center

we're really not prepared for what's coming
As a direct result of President Trump's Big Ugly Bill, almost 300 jobs will be cut from Providence Swedish's First Hill, Cherry Hill, Ballard, and Issaquah hospitals and clinics. These are not the only layoffs we've seen in our health care system in Washington state in recent months.
Providence Swedish to eliminate nearly 300 positions

I worked at the Pepperberg Lab back in the day where I cared for African grey parrots. It was a very rewarding experience, but caring for an African grey is a JOB!! The birds are very intelligent and social, and they are NOT TOYS.

Kevin Hassett: "I think there could be a little bit of an almost quiet time in the labor market, because firms are finding that AI is making their workers so productive that they don't necessarily have to hire the new kids out of college and so on."

We seriously have Republicans talking about going back to the “good old days” of high-risk pools, which just meant that people with preexisting conditions like cancer couldn’t get health insurance.

Elon Musk is not set to become the world's first trillionaire because this pay package has a bunch of preconditions he will never meet. The 600,000 people he killed are dead for real, though.
The world’s first trillionaire initiated a move that has left more than half a million people dead, most of whom are children.
