again, I think a major problem with America is that a critical mass of voters and elites have convinced themselves they can't die even if they stab themselves—that it is impossible to elect a government that actually makes their lives worse so its all just a game

One of the main figures of masculinity in pop culture today is the deeply uncool whiny guy who thinks he’s smart/powerful/etc (Elmo, Zuck) and I think part of what made Kendrick’s hit so big is that it puts a guy like that in his place

gonna keep hammering this: there is no one database that:
-is easily accessed by a street level bureaceat
-has every or even most US citizens
-is at all verifiable with pictures and/or biometrics
It does not exist. American citizens *are* going go to get swept up in this and deported or killed.

The GOP is apparently planning on passing a reconciliation package with as much as $120 BILLION in border-related funding.
To put that in context, if you add up ever single Border Patrol budget from 1990 through 2024, adjusted for inflation, it's $121 billion. That's THIRTY-FOUR YEARS of funding.

I don’t mean this in some political sense or any actual connection to the election. This isn’t important. Stupid of me to even bring up. But can we still hang out with Tim Walz? Like can he come over and give neighborly advice and play Jet Set Radio?
