Interesting idea actually
Suggestion: A strike of musicians, writers, hosts, actors, lighting, electricians--everyone, shutting down all TV studios, until Jimmy Kimmel is reinstated.

This is the kind of action we need, instead of sitting around just waiting to be gutted.

I’m not an idiot but I’m also no expert in global trade but if we already put sanctions on Russia, how can we threaten tariffs?

Douthat may be addicted to being Rufoed at the Nazi bar, but the Times keeps it open and sits him on a stool with an empty seat next to him.
"Talking for an hour with a purveyor of racist pseudoscience who openly tells you he blames the decline of society on women just to ask whether the right can be both vitalist and Christian is neither serious nor constructive." @liberalcurrents.com

The New York Times Launders Another Fascist
Misogyny, racism, and antisemitism all were glossed over in Ross Douthat's softball interview of Jonathan Keeperman.

Nazi Germany surrendered in May 1945. For Americans, the Second World War would rage for three more months, until VJ Day in August. But for Russians and those influenced by them, "Victory Day" falls in May. Trump follows the Russian practice, not the American.

At this point I'm honestly just calling my reps and bluntly saying you're old between the two of us I'm the one more likely to survive an ecoli infection. Maybe do something about this.

It's a bad sign that I, a US professor with two kids who will be applying to college in the next few years, am exploring the process of them applying to universities outside of America. The Trump administration is on the verge of destroying US higher education, where we have long been a world leader

DOGE has been a fundamentally unserious project from the start.

You want to root out waste, fraud and abuse? Keep the IGs and bring in forensic accountants.

Firing IGs and bringing in some coders? What?

The next tweet by Musk was about the need to impeach all "corrupt" judges—the implication being that if you see a judge who's a woman or nonwhite they're probably both not qualified to do their job and corrupt

The breed of racism we see from Musk and his friends is truly 1930s-style fascist hatred

It's weird how Senator Mike Lee, who is a huuuuge proponent of legislative supremacy (in 2023, when Biden was President), is just letting the executive branch run roughshod over the entire federal government w/o stepping up to do that work himself via legislation. www.lee.senate.gov/2023/6/sen-l...
Sen. Lee Introduces ARTICLE ONE Act to Reclaim Congressional Power
Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) introduced the ARTICLE ONE Act, a bill that would reclaim significant legislative powers delegated to the executive branch by the National Emergencies Act of 1976.

Apparently there’s a “kickoff” meeting between the DOGE people and Department of Labor management planned for tomorrow at 4pm ET.

Unrelatedly, the Frances Perkins Building that houses the Dept of Labor is located at 200 Constitution Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20210.

If this happens - and if Musk et al get control of BLS - then all economic bets are off.

I can’t say it any more plainly than that.
NEWS: Sources tell me that DOGE is setting its sights on the Department of Labor next. DOL workers have been ordered to give DOGE access to whatever they ask for—or risk termination.

“We’re supposed to stop everything we’re doing and do whatever the DOGE kids ask… It feels dirty and illegal.”
