"Hannah's magic cure for every ill", he teased. "Blueberry cake and a kitten."

A little of this, a little of that. Leftist.
Love Hozier, Ghosts, Taskmaster, ACGAS-basically, anything that celebrates the best of humanity. Dislike aggression and gaslighting

Also, the album from Horne Section TV Show Series 1 is on Spotify right now. Songs from this season will be uploaded after every episode. I think.

The Trump administration fired Librarian of Congress Dr. Carla D. Hayden as part of their sweeping book ban efforts. One of the titles removed? Freckleface Strawberry, a children’s book about self-acceptance. Seriously, who gets offended by that?

I keep saying this... both operationally and in research, the situation is still much worse than most people seem to realize or want to accept.
NEW: US weather forecasting is in worse shape than previously known, with 30 NWS forecast offices missing meteorologists-in-charge and about a dozen offices at risk of no longer serving their communities 24/7. www.cnn.com/2025/05/02/w...
US weather forecasting is more crippled than previously thought as hurricane season nears | CNN
Several current and former agency meteorologists and staff told CNN they are concerned warnings won’t be issued in time as hurricane season nears.

It's interesting timing - just when one of PBS' big hitters has released this documentary about the Republican Party. www.eyeforfilm.co.uk/review/white...
White With Fear - Film Review - Eye For Film
A deep dive into the decades-long quest by America's conservative political machine to amass power by exploiting racial fault lines and stoking narratives of white victimisation.

these people hate DEI because they would be unemployable in any system where they couldn’t rely on favoritism and nepotism
Just read this.

was JUST explaining this - do NOT validate the premise, ever. That's the fucking game. When RFK says "these people will never pay taxes" the response isn't "yes they will" it's "who cares, that's a human being, I don’t give a fuck what you say, we do not create metrics for whether someone is human"
Rfk: autistic people will never contribute to capitalism

Liberals: here are many autistic people who contribute to capitalism

Rfk: exactly, we both agree that the rest of autistic people can go in the Machine

This is why you don't legitimize a guy who wants to mass murder people.

it isn't controversial to say "german citizens in the late 1930s should have killed gestapo and brownshirts on sight and physically pulled down hitler and executed him and his entire command structure at midday in downtown berlin, to prevent the holocaust"

As allied army troops approached Nazi concentration camps, some guards put on prison uniforms & tried to blend in. But they were too well fed to blend & the inmates usually grabbed them & beat them to death anyway. And some horrified troops killed & buried the guards, saying later, “they fled.”
when this is over every gestapo snatch goon should be begging for life in prison from fear of getting caught out in the streets

Some stats from 100 days in on congestion pricing:
- Complaints about car-honking are down 70%
- The Holland Tunnel has 65% fewer delays at rush hour; time to get thru it is down 48%
- 6 million fewer cars
- Half as many traffic-related injuries
- 1.5 million more visitors to BIDs year over year
How Well Is Congestion Pricing Doing? Very.
One hundred days in, honking is down; bus speeds are up.

the core of tech bro fascism is a bunch of dudes who simultaneously hate artists and the creative process more than anything and lack the ability to interpret reality outside of what they've been taught by movies and TV
While there is a lot to say about this image, the thing that stands out to me the most - what IMO makes genAI a specifically right wing phenomenon - is the craving for approval. It is not enough to be able to generate robot lingerie warrior lady. They NEED to also be praised for doing it.

When this even needs to be stated like this, it means that a wrong turn has been taken somewhere in education.

It starts in primary school, where it feels like you're being graded on putting the weight in the right place. Lifting effort still needs good grades, even if the placement is imperfect.
Even accepting the premise that AI produces useful writing (which no one should), using AI in education is like using a forklift at the gym. The weights do not actually need to be moved from place to place. That is not the work. The work is what happens within you.

If you're in a political party and 4 of you just voted to make it illegal for married women to vote, and *no one kicked them out of the party*, you're in a political party that wants to make it illegal for married women to vote.

It is not a hard concept.
