I'm old enough to remember the GOP 'outrage' when terrorism scholars warned about right-wing, anti-governmental extremists... And then were dragged in front of Congress & had our research budgets slashed. Circa 2009/2010
Among other things, what's so terrible about Noem's language labeling an innocent civilian a domestic terrorist is it creates an explicit permission structure and encourages individual agents to be more violent. Combined with ICE's lowered recruiting standards, it will absolutely make things worse.
