NEW: Dems easily flipped the sheriff's office in Pennsylvania's Bucks County, a big swing county in the Philly suburbs.

So? The incumbent GOP sheriff had contracted with ICE. His Dem challenger promised to end the contract.

Now he wants other swing-state Dems to look at his victory as a lesson:

A populous, swing county replaced its GOP sheriff on Tuesday after months of controversy over his joining ICE’s 287(g) program. The Democratic winner promises he’ll end the contract.

In response to this claim that the "strategy didn't work."

The people were on our side. We were building momentum to help save our democracy. We could have won - the premium increase notices were just starting.

And giving in now will embolden him. Things will likely get worse.

As all the systems people rely on break down, it's actually a slam dunk politically to be the party of, "We'll make government function properly and ensure you don't end up with violent diarrhea from a foodborne illness."

Also, it's just the right thing morally to support dedicated civil servants.
Decided it's not worth keeping this one as a vague-post, I blocked this person, some of you may want to as well

Sometimes my daily calls to my Senators is best summarized as, “thank you for having a spine but I think you need to fight some of your colleagues.”
I haven’t seen my senators (thankfully) on any of the lists (ha ha ha I hope) but I called them both and said “please go knock sense into your colleagues, this is unacceptable)

Standing up to a tyrant - who is willing to impose pain as leverage to compel loyalty or acquiescence - is hard. You can convince yourself that yielding stops the pain and brings you back to "normal".

But there is no "normal". Submission emboldens the tyrant. The threat grows.
