I've realised what "See it, say it, sorted" is advertising: driving

I'm at a station and there's a constant barrage of announcements about danger. *See it say it... Transport Police... Mind the gap... For your own safety..." You know what doesn't constantly tell me I'm in danger? My car
"See it, say it, sorted" is annoying because it's obviously a marketing slogan. I'm just not sure what they're selling. Fear of public spaces?

And just to give the idea about how unsuited AI is to translation: I recently read the original English translation of Solaris, and the more recent one. The original version calls two supporting characters "Snow" and "Rheya"; the new translation, "Snout" and "Harey". 1/🧵
I don't work as a translator professionally, but I speak and read three languages other than English, and part of the fun of that is being able to see the clever nuances, the ways in which some concepts work differently in different languages, the impact of word choice on a translated sentence.
“Maybe” is too kind, imo 😌 Translation is also a writing process!

WE WON!

The Supreme Court has upheld the right to wild camp on Dartmoor. This is a huge win for access to nature.

But we're just getting started.

It was never just about Dartmoor.

We’re fighting to extend the right to roam, swim, and sleep under the stars - across all of England.

A dude on Facebook is trying to explain to me that driving a fuel efficient car is more environmentally friendly than biking because *wait for it* biking requires eating more and the environmental impacts of those calories outweigh the impact of producing, transporting and fueling a car. Amazing

There's this trope that Powell was a genius... a great scholar... a romantic warrior... and for some, it lends weight to the appalling bigotry he spawned. We should talk more about Powell, the fickle self promoting, cheap, and grubby politician who was desperate to be Prime Minister at any price.

This is the level they've been at for some time.

I am not an AI megahater! It has uses. Obtaining accurate information is not one of them and cannot be because the whole purpose of the technology is to make shit up. That is useful for software development and cancer research! It is not useful for learning facts.

Right, because I've now seen misunderstandings of this enough times that it's got me worried that people don't know this - transgender people in the UK are protected by the Equality Act 2010 under the category of gender reassignment.

*That* was not under discussion today and hasn't changed.
