Completely fucked up and totally not surprising that this is happening.
Our director @rshapiro.bsky.social on our latest: FBI warns that ICE impersonators are harming ICE's image in immigrant communities, quietly urges ICE agents to identify themselves, as revealed in an intel doc we obtained and shared w/ @dell.bsky.social / @wired.com www.wired.com/story/fbi-wa...

Good morning! Your daily commute is a perfect time to write and submit some comments to your elected officials about the terrible job they’re doing, and the various harms the Trump administration is causing us.

I wish that @fetterman.senate.gov @johnfetterman.com and Senator McCormick agreed, but apparently they support and approve of targeted killing of children, journalists and civilians in general, and Israel’s cruel starvation and forced removal campaign of Palestinians. They like war crimes.
Netanyahu’s assault on Gaza City only worsens the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza. There is no excuse for starving Palestinian children and killing innocent people.

The U.S. should not send a single penny to fund Netanyahu’s war machine.

I know we like talking about these things in terms of homicide rates but let's talk raw numbers.

Boston, one of the cities in Trump's crosshairs, is a city of 700,000 people that had 24 total homicides in 2024.

Mike Johnson's Shreveport, population under 200,000, had 52 total homicides in 2024.
Active-duty troops are not crime-fighters. With exception of military police, they are not trained or armed to act as police.
Mike Johnson: "I cannot for the life of me understand how the Democrats think this is some kind of winning political message. Yield man! Let the troops come into your city and show how crime can be reduced."

Shreveport, LA, the largest city in Speaker Mike Johnson's district, has a murder rate more than twice Chicago's, and a crime rate considerably higher than both the state and national average. And Johnson isn't calling for the military to invade it. One of many ways we know this isn't about crime.

I hope this applies to out of state visitors too! Now that I have family in NM, it would be great to get a booster on my next visit.
New Mexico has issued a public health order that removes federal restrictions to COVID-19 vaccine access so that pharmacies in New Mexico can vaccinate people of all ages and risk profiles. Every state need to do this!

Thank you for this helpful info (sincerely and not sarcastically)
Went ahead and updated my map of cities with higher crime than D.C. to accommodate the two new states from the Deep South who are sending troops to the capital. In the five states there are 64 cities, home to 1.7 million people, that had more crime in 2024 than D.C.

We also subsidize high fructose corn syrup through extensive tax benefits to corn farmers / agribusinesses that grow corn.
It’s weird that people have a huge problem with tax dollars being used to subsidize part of the cost of someone’s soda with SNAP, and no problem with our tax dollars being used to subsidize the entire cost of a billionaire’s private jets and yachts with Trump’s tax cuts.

The Supreme Court is out of control. To allow the president, without any explanation, to unilaterally dismantle agencies created by an Act of Congress is to endow the president with sovereignty. There is no justification, because they haven’t given one. Our country is in big trouble.
BREAKING: The Supreme Court allows the Trump administration to move forward with the abolition of the Department of Education. It gives no explanation for its order. All three liberals dissent. www.documentcloud.org/documents/25...

From Sotomayor's dissent:

Criminally so
the court is corrupt.
let's take stock here:

(Democratic) Presidents, via the Dept of Education, can't cancel student debt because statutes don't clearly authorize it.

Republican Presidents can cancel/shut down the Dept of Education because, even though only Congress can shut down departments ..., ... 🤷‍♀️ YOLO?

Truly scary and disastrous times
I have no words. Everyone prepared for the constitutional crisis of the President defying the SCOTUS. The crisis is the SCOTUS being fully aligned with Trump’s vision of presidential power. So here we are.

Stop funding state-sponsored violence, fund housing & healthcare & food access & public transportation & schools &
&
&
(Continue filling in the blanks of things that benefit society more than police)
The cops are always the ones who bring the violence. They are the ones who actively perpetrate violence in the interest of protecting property and maintaining the status quo.

The cops ARE violence—the violence of policing cannot be reformed, because violence is inherent to the institution itself.
Remarkable.

MSNC: "I want to reiterate this has been 100% peaceful."

Seconds later, LA County sheriffs start firing on the crowd.

Yet again, "law enforcement" deliberately escalated.

Abolish ICE
America's secret police just detained a guy who might be Mayor of New York City and his NYPD escort. We have to abolish ICE. That should be the baseline Democratic Party position.
Trump is sending ICE to blue cities to enact the "largest mass deportation program in history" and Chicago is at the top of the list.

I'm calling for every Democratic leader and candidate to stand against ICE, to call for its abolition, and to materially support immigrants.

Inaction is complicity.

This is fascism
Amended. The regime has now arrested, handcuffed/decked:

• Judge
• Member of Congress
• US Senator
• Mayor
• Mayoral Candidate/city official of NYC/

A Trump supporter just assassinated a Dem leader in MN. Yet Sen. Dems are about 2 vote w/ MAGA 2 give Trump a gift on crypto as early as maybe today.

The Trump secret police kidnapped an American citizen and elected official who DARED to ask them to show a warrant.

Who is next?

The length of time it takes me to walk from my house to @septaphilly.bsky.social El:
- 1 call to Sen McCormick
- 1 call to Sen Fetterman
- 1 call to Rep Boyle

Asking them all to oppose the Trump regime and its descent into fascism. I know at least @repbrendanboyle.bsky.social is listening!

There a reason the protests are being covered differently from the Tea Party

The Tea Party was a front for the wealth class that owns the media and were used to demonize necessary reform

These protests were democratic and populist, which the wealth class and its media opposes

Hope that helps
