I think the problem here is that once you’ve e.g. told left wing voters that you despise them, ripped off Enoch Powell in your migrant crackdown speech and literally facilitated genocide, it’ll be hard to convince people that you actually like them and you aren’t into racism and murders.

It's not complicated though, is it? He's a bloodless institutional climber who hitched his wagon firmly to the Labour Right Blairism Redux project under Starmer, acting as one of its most proud and outspoken enforcers. Now, Starmer's a dead PM walking, he's knows he's fucked too, so he's pivoting.

The last time New York had a decent mayor was Giuliani, over two decades ago. Say what you will about him (you younger people only know what's become of him after leaving office), but he really did clean up the city. He oversaw the removal of its two biggest eyesores.

Absolutely insane.
Labour would have purged and smeared someone like Zohran Mamdani.
Wes Streeting's politics align far more closely with Andrew Cuomo.
The lessons from Mamdani are about how to defeat both the right - and the bankrupt "centre".

The BBC used this obvious fascist crackpot and extreme violence enthusiast for years as an authority on left wing racism and have pandered to the guy as hard as they could through the last two years, so it is IMO very amusing that he’s still calling them Hamas and demanding that they be destroyed.

I think Sudan might shoot up the news agenda somewhat if two US Presidents and two British PMs e.g. announced we were sending the RSF more machine guns and missiles to kill more civilians, then told the press everyone protesting against it was a traitor extremist and sent the cops to arrest them.
