Things can always get stupider
WH sources say Venezuela's opposition leader committed the "ultimate sin": She accepted the Nobel Peace prize.

“If she had turned it down and said, ‘I can’t accept it because it’s Donald Trump’s,’ she’d be the president of Venezuela today,” one said.

Less worried about actual humans sharing tips on social media, more worried about AI effing this up.
Social media has introduced cleaning hacks like laundry stripping and making mopping seem cool. But all of this buzzy content brings with it new problems: advice that doesn’t account for the complex chemistry of products.
Cleaning experts are begging you to stop trying these online ‘hacks’
Stop being a mad scientist with your cleaning products before you blow something up! And knock it off with all the cute, unlabeled jars, too.

The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

We see y'all. No matter what.

Today in the Supreme Court, the president’s own lawyers said that the American people will pay 30-80% of the $4 trillion in tariffs.

Meanwhile, we’re experiencing an affordability crisis: rising costs of groceries, cuts to food benefits, and more.

This is a betrayal of trust.

"The Media School directed us to print no news in the paper... nothing but information about homecoming — no other news at all, and particularly no traditional front page news coverage."
Indiana University has fired the staff director of the student newspaper, after disputes in which university leadership tried to pressure him to prevent students from publishing news.

i always wonder if folks who say this realize they're pushing the other side's narrative? "red states contain only people who voted that way/live those values, and anyone there harmed by their policies doesn't count bc they shouldn't live there" ...like. listen. you're singing the other side's song
When I see people online, even in jest, suggest that people living in Republican-controlled states should be abandoned because of their politicians, I feel a deep heartache. New York CREATED Donald Trump and none of y’all are ever talk about it the way you disparage Alabama or Mississippi.

VOUGHT: If they were a company, their stock price would in shambles. They in some respects caused the pandemic. You have an entire institute that does nothing more than DEI research at the NIH.

when RFK says he wants to “end chronic disease,” what people hear is “he wants to cure us” but what he means is “i want to cull the weak”
Republicans are waging a generalized war on science, but I think many of them don’t fully grok that RFK isn’t at war with science alone or per se: he’s at war with sick people, and of the view that only the lucky should be allowed to survive into old age. They are know nothings, he is Mengele.
RFK Jr. has now officially stated that he will dismantle the United States Preventive ServicesTask Force (USPSTF).

This is an independent body of expert scientists who volunteer their time to review data and provide guidance to Americans on important things like cancer screenings.
