YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN is the best of both Mel Brooks & Gene Wilder, with Wilder reining in Brooks’ low-comedy excesses & Brooks warming Wilder’s more cerebral instincts. It’s also the film that stands equal with the material it’s ribbing, & features a beautiful aesthetic.
