Benefits monthly data day 🧵
Blimey. We're busting above the grim forecasts Treasury and MSD put out two months ago (again). That's despite 120 kiwis leaving the country every day (net).
Buckle in, there's more... [1/n]

Now, there is a silver lining in the data. The rate that things are turning to custard has slowed a tiny bit. But, surely we need to stop it now with the hopium forecasting? Remember, benefit numbers will continue to go up year-on-year until that yellow line drops to 0% [3/n]

Another really good example of David Seymour, without evidence, suggesting everybody is wrong about the RSB except him. This time, Treasury and MfE. Add them to the already extensive list of actual experts Seymour has dismissed.

(at the same time, I do have a caveat to this in the next post).

This is such an incredible piece by @drbex.bsky.social.

As someone who works directly on the impacts of violent, dehumanising rhetoric (often aimed at women), it's been galling to see an offhanded reference of the word 'cunt' used to weaponise victimhood into a weeks long media cycle, while...

Andrea Vance in "two really good opinion columns in a row" shocker

Willis’ contention in the media lockup that this Budget would benefit working families is the kind of bald-faced poppycock that all politicians indulge in when trying to get their policies over the line.

In fact, nothing could be further from the truth.
