Tax flight is NOT A THING. Rich people don't move because of high cost of living; that's what makes them rich! Being forced out due to high costs is a poor person thing, not a rich person thing. Can you imagine a billionaire saying they moved somewhere lame because of expenses? Insane.

'Social investment' doesn't mean 'cuts'. They are being required to make cuts, and directed to use 'social investment' (i.e. normal evaluation methods) as a way to decide what to cut. 'Social investment' as a theory overall would tell you invest more in our failing, underfunded services.
Looks like 'social investment' round 2 is going to feature large in next month's Budget - & that Coster means well. Yet this is such a deeply flawed approach - cut funding for public housing, school lunches, disability etc - while slashing ability of community to respond. #nzpol #kikorangi
Social investment means funding reprioritisation, more changes to services
Social Investment Agency chief executive Andy Coster says 'hard messages' are coming down the line, as the Govt beds in its flagship policy

The Green budget has great stuff in it and it frustrates me no end that they get treated like "tree-hugging weirdos" while National, who were told that their landlord tax cuts didn't add up before the election, get to throw women under the bus and still are somehow "safe hands" for the economy.

It’s mind boggling and frustrating to me that people are so stuck believing this is the only way things can be. Having lived in a real Social Democracy I know it’s not true. Cmon AoNZ, let’s kick the neolibs out.

#NZPol. Reluctant to do knee jerk commentary ... but ...

Child Poverty Report is a whole *4 pages* long - of which one page is charts.

Those charts indicate that Budget announcements are expect to do SFA to improve child poverty rates over coming 4 years.

Reflects perverted set of priorities😡.

A thing to do is amplify Greens policy (see @maramadavidson.bsky.social) and @tepaatimaori.bsky.social policy.

Talk about it with your mates. Plaster it over your social media.

The Government is trying to normalise wealth inequity, conservatism, misogyny - amplify and vote for those pushing back.

I went straight to the Govts Child Poverty Report that assesses their Budget.
This cruel govt has CHOSEN to put throw more children & whānau into poverty!
It doesn't have to be this way! We can decide to have an Aotearoa that looks after all of us and our planet.

It is a very particular thing with this Government that businesses are the only things that drives economic growth, whereas people just, I dunno, have babies and breath too much.
