As long as NYT is asking “Did women ruin the workplace” can they also ask:
•Did men ruin safe workplaces?
•Did men ruin domestic safety?
•Did men ruin public safety?
•Did men ruin global peace?
Or is a clear “YES” to all these questions just too difficult for fragile men to accept—so NYT avoids it?🤔

The market’s AI run-up yields two plausible stories:
1) A genuine productivity revolution that lifts living standards;
2) A classic overhype that ends like 2000.

Surely the right stance isn’t certainty; it’s humility, diversification, and an eye on the long run.

Meet the 37 private donors for Trump’s ballroom—many of whom have ongoing governmental contracts or regulatory cases.

It sure looks like their multi-million dollar donations are a way to curry favor.

There have now been four legal challenges to California's redistricting law. All have failed spectacularly. Three have been dismissed by courts prior to California even filing a response. The fourth was rejected after a California filed a simple motion to dismiss.

This really illustrates Trump’s lack of interest in both history and character, and his commitment to the enshittification of everything. This looks like what people imagine a “rich” hotel bathroom is, while simultaneously echoing one of those bath fitter things on TV they do in an afternoon.
sure, you might not be able to eat or go to the doctor, but check out how nice Trump's new marble shitter is

I realize there are a lot of other things to worry about, but it's very weird to me when Democrats use homophobia or transphobia to insult Republicans. When it happens, all I can think is: huh, you wanted to slam that politician and the first insult that came to mind was... that. It's weird.

A lot is happening right now. Make a note to yourself to remember, heading into the midterm elections in a year, that GOP senators & reps asking you to vote for them were willing to starve their constituents—your friends, family, maybe even you—for Trump.
Judges rule that Trump must fund SNAP immediately. Now the question remains, will Trump simply ignore the courts like he's prone to do? This is the biggest lever the GOP has to try and force Dems to cave on extending ACA subsidies and they're hammering on it like a child with a noisy new toy.
Live updates: Trump administration must fund SNAP payments during the shutdown, judges rule
Two federal judges ruled on Friday that President Donald Trump’s administration must continue to fund SNAP, the nation’s biggest food aid program, during the government shutdown.

As much as I hate that his area of expertise is so relevant, I encourage people to consider following @atomicanalyst.bsky.social and to read this thread as a reminder of the uniquely destructive power of nuclear weapons:
At this moment in 1952 (7:14:59 AM November 1, local time), the United States tested the first true (albeit undeliverable, weighing a massive 82 tons) hydrogen bomb at Enewetak Atoll. The 10.4-Megaton MIKE explosion vaporized Elugelab Island, leaving behind a crater 1.2 miles wide and 164 feet deep.

This was a brilliant move on South Korea's part. The perfect gift for Trump. It's gaudy and gold and implies royalty, which will appeal to Trump on every level.

And he will be bragging about what an honor it is for the rest of his existence.
South Korea is pulling out all the stops to impress President Trump — including gifting him a replica of an ancient crown symbolizing leadership — as regional leaders try to ease trade and defense tensions by appealing to his taste for lavish gifts. https://wapo.st/3JzgUp2
