The richest family in the UK has £35.3B.

A 2% tax would raise £706M—leaving them with a measly £34.59B.

They could earn that £706M back in about *2.5 months* from INTEREST ALONE.

Meanwhile, we have security tags on cheese.

Cry me a fucking river.
“The Resolution Foundation think tank has estimated she will need to raise taxes by £21-£26 billion.”

There are currently 156 billionaires in the UK. Tax that hoarded wealth and you’d have more than enough.

Waiting lists for gender clinics shouldn’t be this long, especially since most of us could easily (and safely) access treatment through our GPs. Gatekeeping via ‘specialist’ gender clinics is a huge part of the problem, it’s harmful and it needs to end.

No, 224 years is not a typo

Here’s a little exploration of one of the major pieces of lore in Ursula K. Le Guin’s Earthsea - names - from a trans perspective, with a bit of the personal thrown in for good measure.

The biggest irony is that a co-founder behind this anti-trans and anti-medicine conspiracy-mongering account is a big fan of homeopathy: a snake oil sugar pill "treatment" that helps no-one and makes a fuckload of money for the fraudsters selling it

During the Franco dictatorship, Spanish women that could afford it traveled to the UK to get safe abortions. Poorer women only had access to back alley clandestine and dangerous abortions. The UK now is creating the same situation but in reverse for trans healthcare

Trans women ends up on the sex offender register because a cis man wants to pretend he didn’t willingly do sexual stuff with her.

This woman’s life is ruined because of a cis man’s insecurity.

This is not sexual assault, and calling it that is a huge insult to all victims of sexual violence.

Cis people can’t comprehend how cruel not helping a trans child is. Those of us who never had the chance to get help at a young age often spent decades in mental anguish and feeling utterly worthless. I know I became so traumatised I would only speak if spoken to. What monster hurts kids like that?

The entire 'gender critical' movement is built on weaponising violence experienced at the hands of cisgender men to attack trans women, rather than addressing cisgender male violence.

Being a victim of abuse does not give you the right to punch down. It's wild that this has to be said.

This is such disgusting queerphobia. Even for the Times, published a piece that uncritically repeats the claim that a queer rights org is grooming children is fucking awful. The UK is regressing at an alarming rate.

Evidence based medicine? Nah, the UK prefers Cass informed medicine 🫠
A troubling development. Article in the European Journal of Developmental Psychology “Cass Informed Therapy for gender distressed youth”.

Anyone know who Anna Hutchinson is? Or what she thinks “Cass informed therapy” looks like?

Conversion therapy is my guess.

Thanks @karabergkara.bsky.social
@alicemydaughter.bsky.social FYI - the expression 'Cass informed psychotherapy' has entered the medical lexicon:

This resulted in a paradoxical outcome. Exclusionary beliefs & behaviors increased nationwide, but that increase was much SMALLER in the districts that received MORE refugees. Districts with FEWER refugees drove the national level threat.

What’s enraging about this is that a lot of us have actually been contacting our MPs to raise issues (you know, engaging w/ democracy etc), but when those MPs raise those issues, they are ignored by Keir, or sacked for contradicting him, or derided by the right-wing press Keir is beholden to.

The things Sandie Peggie is saying in this tribunal are like a parody of a transphobic racist. If Naomi Cunningham coached her to say this stuff, Cunningham’s career should be over, not just Peggie’s.

Someone who thinks like this should not be in a caring profession. It shows not just racism, but a profound lack of empathy and lack of care for human life. These are not traits compatible with being a nurse.

Can’t wait for the tribunal to decide otherwise, though 🫠
