Can someone please explain to me Netflix’s decision-making.

Just watched Carry-On. It’s got all of the beats of Die Hard but without the humour nor the charisma of Bruce Willis.
They also managed to make Jason Bateman unattractive. And I don’t quite know how they managed that. He’s never not attractive.
