Those men and women did not serve and die in that war so that a corrupt and degenerate man and the party that supports him could surrender this country to fascism at home and abroad.

My dad served, as did my grandad, my uncle and everyone else. In their memory, I resist.
Today, we recognize the 84th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. We owe a great debt to the men and women who bravely served during WWII to win the war. We will always honor their memory and sacrifice, including by working to protect the world they fought to create.

I think an important thing to understand about brofluencer ideology is that they do not just deny that being toxic and shitty makes you a less appealing partner, they insist that women are only genuinely attracted to toxic and shitty men and being kind will instead make women lose respect for you.
I'm starting to wonder how much "the male loneliness epidemic" is just straight and bisexual women identifying low-effort, mean, and incompetent men and choosing not to date, marry, and tolerate them anymore

I was born in 1952, and it was 1995 when I first heard of the incarceration. My kid was in 2nd grade, and she had to do a project about it. I would bet there are a lot of Americans who still don't know that this happened.
My new podcast "Burn Order" is about the decision to incarcerate tens of thousands of Japanese-American families during World War II, and the remarkable fight against it.

6 episodes in total -- Eps. 1 and 2 are posted now. 3 and 4 will post tomorrow, December 8:

We're going to have to talk about the role of lawyers in the administration's lawless activities.
How is writing an OLC opinion that the law allows things that it doesn't allow not conspiracy?
Remember that the Nazis had lawyers make genocide legal.
As I told @cnn.com, there's nothing to justify any of the lethal maritime strikes.

There's no armed conflict.

The administration has engaged in very real killing in a make-believe armed conflict.

And even in the admin's legal fantasy land, attacking the shipwrecked would be a war crime.
Pleased to speak with Fredricka Whitfield on @cnn.com today.

Explained that the legal problems with the killing spree at sea far go beyond the September 2nd incident.

Premeditated killing outside of armed conflict is called murder.

And there is no armed conflict.

What Senator Cotton says here would be a bad defense for the Germans convicted in WWI and WWII war crimes trials -- including for firing on shipwrecked in fully operational lifeboats.

This line of response hurts the US and US servicemembers. It will cause long-term damage unless we get this right.
WELKER: Lawmakers say the 2 men appeared to raise their arms potentially to surrender. Why did Admiral Bradley interpret these actions as anything other than them trying to survive?

TOM COTTON: They were sitting or standing on top of a capsized boat. They weren't floating helplessly in the water

Everyone up and down that chain of command is complicit in murder.
Schiff: "I think that all of these strikes are unlawful. They are a form of extrajudicial killing. These boats are not invading the US in an armed assault ... the fact the administration may put a group of organizations on a list doesn't confer on a president the ability to kill them at sea."

5. FWIW, that's also why, if the pro-Constitutional Democracy factions of the U.S. political order ever get the trifecta, they can't wait to pass their reforms. They can't spend time hashing them out in committee. They need prêt à passer legislation.

This is terrible. One model I've seen predicts hundreds of entirely preventable, hard deaths in the nearish future because of it.

But what terrifies me is that this is just a one shot in the ongoing campaign against vaccination in the US.

All of which is based on lies that have a long history. 1/
This is an excellent read. The more you know. #Science 🧪

A federal judge found Lindsey Halligan’s appointment invalid.
The Justice Dept has seized on the lack of an explicit order to fire her to keep her in place.

NYT describes this as "The Justice Dept’s unusual approach."

The approach: if there isn't a specific law/ruling against it, we can do it.

Worth remembering that Trump is not just an authoritarian, but a fascist authoritarian.

Fascism boils down to the belief that there's a "natural" order where the physically strong violently dominate the weak.

If a fascist strongman's base perceives him as enfeebled, he is politically fucked
…propagandize about Trump’s “stamina.” This is a taxpayer funded messaging operation aimed at propping up a sagging authoritarian cult of personality.
