This kind of phishing attack must work or they wouldn't do it, but um, I'm the IT help desk of my vanity domain name, and that's not how I spell my name, lol.

@chrisgeidner.bsky.social , do you think Gorsuch will end Kavenaugh stops?
“Trish Carter-Goodheart, a Democratic candidate and citizen of the Nez Perce Tribe, spoke plainly: Racism and discrimination remain real and persistent …

When the conversation hit a nerve, [the GOP senator] abruptly stormed out, shouting: ‘Why don’t you go back to where you came from?’”
Tribal IDs Are Federally Recognized. ICE Agents Are Ignoring Them.
Opinion. During last year’s Idaho election, a Republican state senator lost his composure when a candidate forum turned to the topic of racism.

The most precious commodity you have is your attention. You don’t have to waste it on poor-faith debates or arguments with strangers if you don’t think they’ll be productive. You can prioritize the things that matter to you and make your life richer.

As a society we must better explain why "eliminating information silos" is such a dangerous goal at the fed level.

Some data sharing is good! But only in a privacy-preserving way, with individual consent. A significant engineering challenge that SV billionaires don't want to see completed.
Stopping Waste, Fraud, and Abuse by Eliminating Information Silos
By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, it is hereby ordered:Section 1.  Purpose.

University system is collapsing because Ai is demotivating an entire generation on education
Students are right. Why should they bother to learn? Ai will take all jobs
What carrot have you placed on their stick? Home ownership is impossible
What do we ask of them other than debt 🔁 consume?
An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

I try to avoid binary thinking, but...

There are only two types of people in the world.

"I had to suffer, so should they."

Or "I had to suffer, and I will work to help others so they don't have to."

I understand the sentiment but I’m ok with the pentagon protecting the nation’s capitol. Agreed that National Guard on the streets just looks like something totalitarian in a dictatorship. And so sad for families.
There is literally no reason for the military to be in D.C.

this should go without saying but if you were one of the lucky few we did get out of Afghanistan during the withdrawal and we got you out because you'd been working with us, deportation back is likely a death sentence.

The war will end when Russia stops fighting. Therefore, pressure has to be put on Russia, so that they stop believing that they will win. Why is that so hard to understand?

3. We literally let Russia flood us with propaganda designed to undermine American cohesion, because far-right Republicans think it helps them politically. The Tories allowed Russian money to flood UK politics, and in return they committed great-power suicide via Brexit.

Insightful as always.
A friend who teaches theology shared with me a post about CS Lewis's Mere Christianity, which discusses foundational Christian logic across denominations. It reminded me of Dale's tweet below, and I wanted to share some thoughts here regarding modesty and respectability, which are often hot topics.

if the glorified graphics card company DOES end up tanking the entire economy I'm blaming gamergate
Time for my usual morning routine, pouring myself a cup of coffee and checking the stock price of the company "Nvidia" to find out if the entire economy has crashed

i think tech and ai positive people are going to be in for a big shock when anti tech and anti ai sentiment becomes a major part of leftwing politics going forward especially as datacenters continue to destroy communities and raise electricity bills
Is this platform still massively against AI or has it moved more towards acceptance?

there's that now-famous internet line about how climate change means watching clips of climate disasters on people's phones until you're the one filming it, and it feels like there's some parallel about watching fascist deportation goon squad videos until it's filmed on the streets you recognize

Now that the app is out, I can finally talk about its development 😄

I was honestly surprised that Apple approved the app on the first try, even with the “Name a fair price” IAP screen.

It still feels like the sort of thing App Review would push back on. I'm happy they didn’t.

Racism is the best-correlated variable for Trumpism.

The problem is that the conclusion is repugnant (that an entire political party has mostly gone “gutter racist”) and this makes it hard to talk about without having that same party scream “bias!”
Almost everyone with a high level of racial resentment tended to vote for Trump in the 2024 election, regardless of educational attainment. Conversely, those with a low racial resentment score tended to support Harris, whether they had a college degree or not.

Seeing how much of the right-wing on Twitter is just bot farms, kinda lays bare how much hate and hatred is a project that needs to be constantly maintained, a fire that needs to be fed all the time lest it go out for a moment, so much time, effort, and resources to keep people angry and hateful.

Being Interdisciplinary feels like practicing non-attachment. Different disciplines come in & out of focus in waves, each a whole world. Engaging with philosophy gives access to different ontologies than engaging in neuroscience or AI. This helps us evaluate each field from within & outside itself.

If you’re a journalist who’s still on Twitter, from now on in your writing you have to replace “the American people want” with “troll bots in Eastern Europe demand”

Being there makes your judgment suspect. I don’t care how savvy you think you are, you’re marinating in a disinformation campaign.
