Fantastic news!!

In response to our industrial action, the university proposed a resolution that removed the threat of compulsory redundancies for the next year and introduced a negotiation process over course closures. And at our branch meeting, we accepted this offer.

You can’t make it up! The irony of these COP30 posts by University of Leicester when they are looking to axe the human geography and geology staff who are involved in these very projects decimating GGE at the uni. Totally disgraceful

I'm getting reports that a firm is cold calling people "offering grants for renewables and quoting that MARTIN LEWIS had encouraged people to engage with the company."

The call is UTTER BOLLOCKS! This is not true. Don't trust them. Politely disengage and don't speak to them.

Please sign this to show solidarity with the team at Leicester and highlight how crucial geography is to addressing global challenges. Ludicrous decision that could impact lives and research, staff and students.
Thanks to all who have already signed the petition about the closure of Geography at the Uni. If you haven’t, please do so to help stop this ill-thought out action that threatens the future of staff, students & the discipline at Leicester

Lovely lunchtime outing with @martinph1.bsky.social to hear @tomheap.bsky.social talking about his book and environmental issues generally! Already a couple of chapters in. This is one I’d be recommending to my students if I was still in the classroom! 🤣

Very few songs are genius. This one is. Those lyrics are killer.

So either Nigel Farage lied about buying a house in Clacton, when he wanted to pretend he gave a shit about the place, or he lied about it being his girlfriend's house, when he was caught avoiding stamp duty. Either way he's a lying chancer.

Cutting data climate collection – as the Trump administration is now trying to do – is like breaking a thermometer to avoid knowing you’ve got a fever.
