Another 'speed up Monopoly' tip. Play the official rules, which includes Auctions. If a player doesn't buy a property it should then be put out to tender for the highest bidder to buy. Yet the vast majority of UK monopoly players ignore this rule.

Why weirdly you should open the Christmas gifts you give before giving them!

Thats actually 'inflationary' and one of the main reasons that the games lasts so long. It puts too much money in circulation.
Oh and we always played the free parking rule of all fines go in the middle and anyone landing on free parking gets the cash

UK inflation (cpi) down to 3.2% (from 3.6%) in latest figures for the year to Nov. That's lower than was predicted, tho of course still means overall prices are rising (inflation dropping just means a decrease in the acceleration of price rises).

It means a UK base rate cut on Thurs is more likely

In praise of 'delayed send':

An important reminder email just popped up in my in-box to remind me of something I need to do tomorrow. It was sent by... me... six weeks ago, on delayed send. I'd totally forgotten.

Many on Universal Credit are being bureaucratically blocked from switching bank account. I've today written to Sec of State for Work & Pensions to request he investigate changing what seems an unintended effect of a poorly designed system. Letter here www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2025/12...

We lit our chanucah candles tonight. It is a dark day, but we had children here so we tried to stay in the light.

Wishing a happy chanucah as possible to all celebrating & thanks to all who've sent good wishes

Thoughts & prayers to all affected in Australia by this hideous anti-semetic attack.

After being asked ‘Should I use an investment platform or a shares ISA’ Martin explains it's not an either/or. It's a question of tax.
