Broadcasters - especially the BBC - have been working hard to ensure they give a voice to the 25-35% of people willing to vote Reform (and harder groups within that, like anti-asylum protest and Tommy protest)

Need to pay as much attention to the unheard majority who fear that form of politics

This is worth a share as it’s simply the most joyless, needlessly pretentious review ever written.

Tiff Bakker seems to think that unless telly is made with her in mind then it’s not good enough.

Dreadful writing @theguardian.com
There is a fascinating TV series to be made about a menopausal rock band – Riot Women isn’t it | Tiff Bakker
Writer-director Sally Wainwright is a national treasure, but here she’s reduced the fury and passion of the riot grrrl movement to a minor plot device, says Tiff Bakker, a New York-based writer

Most of the replies on this post are proving the MP’s point about the levels of toxicity on social media pretty well….
Meeting yesterday with Brianna Ghey's mother Esther - and pupils at Brianna's former school - was a powerful reminder of why controls on social media and smartphone use in schools is so important for children, teachers and parents. (1/2)

This is beautiful! Tommy Robinson's decision to support banned Maccabi Tel Aviv fans by wearing was the 'final straw' for the club and it decided not to sell tickets for Aston Villa. Now Birmingham won't have to deal with the thugs. Starmer also looks like a fool (again). Beautiful.

Private Eye offers up an excellently scornful commentary on the relentless polling. It’s become ridiculous and has oversimplified our politics to dangerous levels of stupid and irresponsible.

I could not agree more. Labour have been left in the dust on their comms strategy and it will be unforgivable if they don’t address it - the whole country will suffer from their complacency in future.
I do wonder if Labour might look at the sorts of people dominating the discourse and dominating the content wars and maybe, just maybe, rethink the sorts of grey figures they routinely put up for interviews, instructed at that to be as cautious as possible. Things have changed. Their comms hasn’t.

Announcing this on a board where Americans are in the fight of their lives against a fascist takeover may be a pointer....

Dad’s books are full of empathy, common sense, and a healthy suspicion of the powerful. But at its heart his work is also about how systems keep people poor while pretending it’s their own fault. So I hope Kemi’s taking notes as well as reading the jokes.

Awful choice of manager. One cup in a severely depleted league (the CL taking so many teams now, devalues the others) should never have overshadowed Spurs’s place in the premier league last season. #NFFC deserve better

You don’t actually have to both sides this. The Jewish community in the UK is not the Israeli government. You can just condemn the murder of two British Jews killed in their place of worship and you don’t have to say a single other thing.

I generally consider schadenfreude to be a grubby emotion that I try to temper in myself as much as I can, but, honestly, the thought of abusive, arrogant, loud-mouthed, ‘get in the hole’-shouting, polo-and-chinos-wearing, Trumpist golf fans being all sad gives me a renewed zest for life.

Agreed - this is worth reading
'I had never heard of Charlie Kirk until he was dead. I have no real regrets about that; I wouldn’t normally seek out the views of a far-right, gun-supporting, Bible-bashing Christian fundamentalist American'.
'But he did not deserve to die'.
Exactly.
Good piece.

I’ve been listening to a brilliant podcast on Hitler recently, so perhaps that’s an underlying reason… but I do think the similarities to Reichstag are striking. Plus all other discourse (Epstein, anyone?) seems to have been swept away.
