Whoa.

“This vaccine, what we term a universal vaccine, elicits a far broader response that is protective against not just the flu virus, not just the Covid virus, not just the common cold virus, but against virtually all viruses, and as many different bacteria as we've tested, and even allergens.”

A really good summary of the issues around Diego Garcia from Ben Judah - and shows why the UK right, who are deliberately using foreign powers to destroy the deal, are betraying the national interest.

There is a very good reason both the Tories and Labour backed this deal in power.

A word for that

I mean look at them. Did anyone expect the supervillains that destroy the earth to be such nebbishes?

Yes, but if the Council of Nicaea *had* been overseen by an English unitary authority with a directly-elected mayor, I reckon we’d have more consistent dates for Easter. The movable feast thing plays havoc with the bin collection timetables.
Okay, this is quite outstanding from Bedford Council.

This is Kyiv today, 12 years ago. It was February 18, 2014, first of 3 bloodiest days of Maidan. 17 protesters were killed by special force police that day alone. 14 more received fatal injuries, they died days later. We would win later that month, but the price would be high. It always is

Oh come ON. I'm literally flying home on Friday. Can he not wait a week?!
My own feelings on this are complicated, but the Trump Administration is insane if it thinks it can launch a major ongoing war in Iran without any major domestic consequences. The American public isn't remotely ready.
Trump moves closer to a major war with Iran
There's little public debate about what could be the most consequential U.S. military action in a decade.

I think there are some pretty legitimate questions for the Greens to answer in this short thread – entirely possible they didn't know the history here, but if so they should say that and distance themselves.
"5 Pillars" runs a Podcast called "Blood Brothers", which has hosted some of Britain's most notorious neo-Nazis & far right activists, like Nick Griffin (BNP), Mark Collett (Patriotic Alternative) & Jayda Fransen (ex-Britain First), to rant about Jews.
Now the Greens are cosying up to them.

It's not even about coffee, but language. The people who think working class people can't enjoy things with foreign names like "latte" or "matcha" are the same wankers who pronounce "chorizo" & "Velasques" with a soft th because it makes them feel sophisticated.
A liking for exotic coffee isn't a class signal in the UK. However, *thinking* that working class people prefer plain boring coffee is a very strong indicator that the speaker is upper middle class. No-one who actually has working class friends could be so deluded.

I am, once again, banging my head against a wall and begging for MP staffing budgets to actually reflect the *thousands* of items of increasingly complex casework and correspondence that come through our offices every month so we can actually give our constituents the service they deserve.
The workload facing MPs and their staff is growing, in ways that aren't visible to the public: casework and the inbox.

For @thehousemag.bsky.social, I delved into what the workload looks like, why it's growing, and what this means for how MPs can balance the different aspects of their role
Casework Crisis: Increase In Constituency Caseload Takes Its Toll

I don't want to be that kind of guy, but... March 1 comes next week.

We in Ukraine are moving towards having lived through yet another godawful winter in the cold and dark under Russian missiles and drones, and we have been good at it.

They wanted to kill hundreds of people, to poison the water, to kill the children in the local Jewish school... Not in a comical 'Four Lions' way but in deadly earnest & with practical plans. And we as a minority in this country are expected to just live with this knowledge.

If you are wondering what words the all-male Congress found so "blasphemous" that they felt compelled to literally scrape them off the monument, they were: ''Woman, first denied a soul, then called mindless, now arisen, declared herself an entity to be reckoned.''
On this day in 1921, Congress reluctantly accepted a sculpture memorializing women’s 19th A victory. Congress relegated the memorial to the Capitol’s crypt & painted over the feminist inscription. The statue stayed entombed in the crypt for 76 years. The inscription is still not restored. #WeTheMen

I don't disagree with the conclusion but the premises are wrong. The far right don't want racial purity, they want to feel that they are better than someone & that this gives them the right to make - & watch - that Other suffer. It's not an impulse unique to FR, but it *is* its organising principle.
You can’t defeat the far right by giving them what they claim to want, bc that isn’t what they really want. What they really want- as they occasionally make clear- is racial purity. That’s why measures aimed at reducing migration are not only cruel & self-harming but pointless on their own terms

Ban old people from the internet already FFS. Kids in London aren't being hospitalised with measles because of some TikToks, but adults are still ignoring their peers' vulnerability to online radicalisation & planning to impose punitive restrictions on the young instead. Covid brain all over again.
