I'm sorry to be so difficult, but I'm afraid the truth is that I am.

She's stupider than I feared.

Oh yeah, you're right. Anyway, I came across a Whistles styling that approximates what I was thinking, though the colours of the best are a bit bolder than I'd opt for

This ⬇️ is just such a live risk to me. Other people don't really think they'll ever end up in panel 3, & while I accept they're normal & their mindset is widespread, I've seen too many revolutions in my life to be able to empathise.

It's extraordinary the things one comes across in "classic" fiction.

(From Anthony Berkeley's 'The Silk Stockings Murders', 1928. Berkeley founded the Detection Club with Agatha
Christie, Freeman Wills Crofts & other established writers. It set the tone for the Golden Age of detective ficion.)

We were canvassing yesterday & one woman had a sarcastic go at my colleague about how she's "too concerned about a genocide in the Middle East, but enjoy your canvassing." I lived this whole meme on the inside.

The largest banner at this demo - by Jews, in Jerusalem - says "Israel is an enemy state." Shit gonna go *down*.

I don't want to, & for reasons I feel are somehow ironically embodied in the very post being shared here

FWIW I also think we lost the argument on revocation of legal status the day Shamima Begum, a British-born citizen, lost her final appeal against the revocation of her citizenship. And that really was perfectly legal, according to the highest court of the land.

I'll be seeing this everywhere today so FTR, it's plausible nonsense. Ethnic cleansing is theorised as applying to a particular ethnos (Serbs, Rohingya) that is native or long established (Tutsi, Armenian.) Lam's policy is evil because it's evil, not because it's the textbook definition of anything.

You couldn't make it up.

I mean look at this.

This really landed with me today. There are a lot of people - perhaps even a plurality - in this country right now who are so angry at the *flavour* of ice cream on offer they're prepared to let the rest of us go over the cliff with the rest.

It's all very "peak Israel" on this train (the young woman next to the armed border police officer was having a conversation in Arabic a few minutes ago)

For when they block me.

I disagree with this, fwiw. Technology is only the medium of the new conspiracism, not the message. People are desperate for a shared reality that offers them more than just data about the world but also belonging & meaning. If that reality happens to make no sense, well, that's a secondary factor.
