I'm no one special. But I see so many people seeming to give up already. NO! NO NO NO! It's not over. As long as one person keeps the flame of freedom and love for neighbor alive, the powers that be HAVE NOT WON! Nemik's Manifesto, from Andor, is worth reading, and remembering:
@jonmathieu.bsky.social Hi Jon! Good seeing you today!

@drkatiecross.bsky.social Hi! We talked back in the summer about having coffee at the Boston conference and discussing trauma and theology - I am here and will be attending your sessions!

Mine keeps making random turns down interesting looking streets
I think of my brain as a Maserati that spends 70% of its time in the shop waiting on some dumb little part to be imported from abroad
Similar here. I describe it as being in the car, revving the engine, but the gears aren’t so much stuck as unpredictable.

Gee, Jake, maybe Biden wasn't the one you should have focused on?

Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance. It is a day when we in the trans community remember those who have been murdered or committed suicide in the last year. We read their names, so that they won’t be forgotten. For many of us, it is an emotional day. We know that it could have been us.

Say their names. ALL of them. Because I was almost one of them this year.
Today is Trans Day of Remembrance.

Today we remember and grieve all those we have lost. But we also commit – collectively – to fighting for those of us who are left. There will be hope as long as we continue to stand together.

I mean . . . I might actually be able to get on board with the SCA and the Penguins
The year is 2035. World War III enters its third year. The United States has reverse quadruple defected and is currently aligned with Lesotho, the Society for Creative Anachronism, and a rebel faction of penguins in the Falklands. NATO has applied for admission into Ukraine.
SCOOP: The Trump administration has been secretly working in consultation with Russia to draft a new plan to end the war in Ukraine

No. No they are not different. Ew.
Megyn Kelly: "I know somebody very close to this case…Jeffrey Epstein, in this person's view, was not a pedophile…He was into the barely legal type, like he liked 15 year old girls…He wasn't into like 8 year olds…There's a difference between a 15 year old and a 5 year old."

This is awful. So sorry to hear, @leximcmenamin.com . This is a true loss.
if you want to know what happened to Teen Vogue yesterday, my work wife @allegrak.bsky.social — who ran our politics section for 6 years until this past June — said it all in this.

can't even pull out a favorite part til I sign my separation letter lol, just read the whole thing.

Read this thread from Talia. Especially if you used to be evangelical. Stop with the black and white thinking and learn to see nuance
The way Westerners discuss conservatism and oppressed people in non-Western cultures is so utterly, irreparably broken.

I did not say "white", by the way. I'd have said "white" if I meant "white".

REV. BLACK (who was shot in the head with a pepper ball): “If this is what they’re doing to pastors, journalists, teachers, mothers, and the elderly gathered to sing and pray outside ICE facilities… what might they be doing to our neighbors who are behind those walls?”

I agree with Dex to a point. Ableism IS a problem. Stupid is the wrong word. However, I do think the majority of my fellow citizens are WILLFULLY ignorant. The information is out there, can be simply explained, but they CHOOSE not to engage with it.
The number of people who responded to this with basically “no, my fellow Americans are stupid” is deeply concerning. Ableism runs deep in the left.
I want to gently push back on this: not being able to read complex writing is not the same as being a low information citizen. Many people can comprehend the topics involved just fine if they are presented in an accessible and understandable manner.

This. Exactly.
Seeing a lot of discourse around trans meds again.

I don't want anything to do with them.

If anyone is trying to gatekeep transness, you aren't welcome in any community I am a part of.

There is no magical threshold of "trans enough".

That's because they think the majority of poor people are white, and so the poor aren't "our own." White supremacy in another guise.
Conservative individualism in a nutshell: the same people who said we need mass deportation so we can take care of “our own” are cheering on the suspension of SNAP because now they don’t want other people to receive “handouts.” They proudly hate other people. It’s a murderous, anti-society ideology.

Billie is 100% right. I've been saying trans people were the canary in the coal mine for three bloody years, including on the hellsite.
If, in 2025, you are even vaguely tempted to tell someone from one of these groups that we are "overreacting" or are being alarmist then I would invite you to take all of the seats.

Today is a good day to tell someone that they were right and you weren't alarmed enough.
"Who would have predicted this?"

- Black women did.
- Trans people did.
- The *entire* disability community did.
- The anarchists did.
- Post-Evangelicals did.

"Well why didn't I hear them."

You did. But you disregarded us as "extremists" and "alarmists". And you are still calling us that.
