The argument "Zionism is not a political position, but an expression of religious identity so fundamental that denying it is tantamount to religious bigotry" seems to allow a Christian to make the same argument about the belief Jews killed Christ. I do not think we will like where this leads.

This argument from Rabbi Elliot Cosgrove against Mamdani is an argument that Zionism is not a political position, but an innate part of Jewish identity so fundamental that denying it is bigotry against Jews.

Why could a Muslim, or Palestinian American, not make the same argument about anti-Zionism?
Sermon from Rabbi Cosgrove: "Some will argue that disqualifying Mamdani because of his anti-Zionist posture only feeds the antisemite’s charge of dual loyalty. I hear this objection and respect those who say it, and I fully reject the argument. I reject it first because it surrenders to a Jewish insecurity and fear about what the antisemites might think. I don’t care what the antisemite thinks, and neither should you. And second, I reject it because it betrays a category error with regard to the place Israel has in my Jewish being. Israel is not a detachable policy preference; it is integral to my Jewish identity. To delegitimize Israel, as Mamdani has repeatedly done, is an attack on my personhood as a Jew, as an American, and as an American Jew. This is not about dual loyalty; this is about my fundamental security and the security of my co-religionists."

We find that being a white biblical literalist is the strongest predictor of preferring wrongful conviction. Preference for wrongful conviction over erroneous acquittal stems from the combination of sacralized authoritarianism & perceived racial threat.

In paying attention to her consistent precarity and identity markers of subordinate status, being orphan, woman, Jewish, exile, this paper will demonstrate her behaviour through the lens of the trauma response 'fawn'. This interpretation renders Esther's fawning as not only a survival mechanism for interpersonal engagement because of her precarity, but also how these coincide with many areas of lack-of-attachment/failed attachments/care have shut her off from her own needs and necessitate the use of co-dependence, obedience, and hypervigilance to “respond to threats by becoming appealing to the threat.” Acting in ways that avoid danger (relatively speaking) and diffuse conflict, in order to create a façade of safety, is an extremely effective and even rewarded trauma response; however, it also forces one to abandon oneself. With a thorough description of what the fawn response is, examples of it in Esther’s narrative, and even a response to what can be seen as a fight response by the end of her story (thus holistically understanding trauma responses as fluid), this presentation will attend to a more nuanced understanding via a trauma hermeneutic of the often misunderstood Esther. below this in bold dark purple, it says please register at bit.ly/SCIBS202526
