The CBS investigation portrays a modern concentration camp, similar to the Soviet GULAG (like CECOT, an acronym): sadistic guards, 24 hour lighting, isolation cells.
Americans once opposed this inhumane system.
The Trump administration sent innocent people there to suffer.

Those still affiliated with Catholic Charities and Lutheran Family service charities who helped save the children back then need to raise a ruckus NOW! I know some of you voted GOP, focus on today, let your Senators know this is unacceptable. Your time is now!
SHAME: Generation X had schoolmates with last names like Nguyen, Pham & Tran, born in war-torn Vietnam, and evacuated as young children by helicopter or from waterlogged boats in the South China Sea. Many went on to serve in our military.

Now we are sending them back?

I also have been assuming that the primary purpose of this conflict is domestic
I keep saying this but no one is connecting the dots. The war is to satisfy legal preconditions for mass removal *domestically* of Latinos (i.e., suddenly a lot of people are going to be “Venezuelan” for purposes of removal). This is 100% Stephen Miller…oil claim is to make grandpa go along
There is no national security logic that would impel the US to want to do regime change in Venezuela. It's simply not that important. I'm not even sure wag the dog is the right metaphor for what's happening here. Seems like an insane misallocation of US national security assets and attention.

This is not just "NCAR boosterism," folks. There are multiple empirical measures by which this is correct--and also, if you took a random sampling of atmospheric & Earth scientists from around the world, I'd bet that a substantial majority of them would agree. NCAR is truly irreplaceable.
Bucalacchi stresses NCAR's reach is unique globally: "if you look at the totality of activities from weather, water, climate, space, weather, atmosphere, chemistry- no one single institution covers that breadth and depth of across observation, high performance computing and modelling and tradition."

NCAR is quite literally our global mothership.

Everyone who works in climate and weather has passed through its doors and benefited from its incredible resources.

Dismantling NCAR is like taking a sledgehammer to the keystone holding up our scientific understanding of the planet.

Unbelievable.

WOW. So this is obviously a huge violation of this man's rights, and it illustrates a few things we're seeing broadly:

- DHS officers are ignoring peoples' IDs and instead requiring screening through their own systems
- Confirms @404media.co's reports of use of DHS's facial recognition app.
