this. if i heard nearly as much advocacy for clean air as i do complaints about mitigatory behaviors like masking maybe we’d be having different conversations.
And if you hate masking, push for clean indoor air rules in workplaces, schools, and medical settings. Support businesses that have HEPA filters going.

Normal has changed.

Since visibility on this is a really big challenge I just wanna say that I still mask in public spaces. I wear a mask when around anyone who doesn’t practice similar precautions. If you do too, you are not alone and I appreciate you so much. If you don’t, you can *always* start again.

“We are told by leaders that we are the future. But when it comes to the ongoing pandemic, our present is being stolen right in front of our eyes.”

Incredible speech by Violet Affleck who warned about the ongoing dangers of COVID & Long Covid, & advocated for masks and clean air at the UN today!

in 8th grade i was taught that the spanish flu paved the way for fascism across europe and that hitler rose to power bc germans were sick and poor so ya it’s been a hellish 5 years.

mask up if you hate fascists.
The mental health benefits of not knowing any history right now must be massive. Moving through your day with total equanimity. What happens next? Who knows? Maybe something good

It's been seven years since I was awarded permanent disability (SSDI) and it'll only take three more years for me to have received enough in SSDI to match the annual salary of the judge who approved my case.

“…fashion isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about impact.”

One of the easiest ways to use fashion for social change? Wearing a mask. Incorporating this clean air tool makes a direct impact on every space you occupy by quite literally changing the make up of the air, breaking chains of transmission.

Wear a mask to…

Protect yourself from getting physically weaker.

Protect your brain and cognitive abilities.

Protect the children around you (and have them wear them too!).

To have a higher quality of life & longer life.

To stop the spread of disease that can kill, maim, & disable others.

You haven’t “learned to live with COVID” if you don’t understand that wearing a mask in public means not only protecting yourself, but ALSO immunocompromised / disabled / chronically ill people

COVID also disproportionately affects marginalized groups including people of low / no income & BIPOC ppl

let wearing a mask in your day to day bond you with others—you’re protecting them & hopefully they you—as you work through obligations & deadlines while previously solid structures collapse around you.

it is an overwhelming, exhausting time to be alive; eschew embarrassment, lead with solidarity 😷✊🏻

a mask is the thing you’re looking for. it is the visible reminder of how things have changed, that you acknowledge we are not coveted “normal” times—but unlike donation-earned tote bags or symbolic beaded bracelets, the mask is community care in both form & immediate function.
