Bad AI supplanting human expertise is an issue that transcends any one field, but man—not many people on earth whose knowledge and dedication deserves respect like LIBRARIANS.
The long-running ideological war on libraries, education, and government workers is not separate from AI boosterism. It is the same ideological war on human knowledge and expertise. In some cases AI is being used to directly supercharge this effort:

College basketball tips off in 10 days and I’m starting to fear Indiana’s football success has led to @homefield.bsky.social forsaking basketball and we’re not going to get a college basketball launch. Streets are starting to murmur it might actually be “just basketball” in all 50 states now.

"We believe that in the near future half the people on the planet will be AI" being a willingly offered on-the-record quote makes me want to set something on fire
found out what former Wondery COO Jeanine Wright is up to: flooding the internet with unlistenable AI podcasts

Her company has put out around 156,000 AI podcast episodes in two years and has averaged about 64 listens per podcast total in that time (less than one download a week)

Two things can be true. OKC deserving champs. Fantastic season.

Pacers had an *unreal* run. Gave absolutely everything they had — including Haliburton’s Achilles. Legends to the last.

Every AI commercial makes me think less of people who use AI. What do you mean you need AI to read the instructions that come with the basketball goal your putting together? No choice but to assume if you’re using genAI you’re lacking the most basic of competencies.

Arresting judges you disagree with is textbook fascism. The Trump administration’s attempt to seize all governing power is a direct affront to the constitution that put checks and balances on all branches of our government to prevent this exact situation.
Bondi declares war on the courts: "What has happened to our judiciary is beyond me ... they are deranged ... we are sending a very strong message today ... we will come after you and we will prosecute you. We will find you."

In the first head to head since the trade, Luka had a 19-15-12 triple double in a win while everyone he was traded for combined for 10-1-6 in the loss. Nico Harrison might actually hate Dallas more than I do.

Fan voting and player voting for NBA All-Star are whatever, they’re going to do their thing. But Media votes should be made public so that whoever put Jalen Green in as a starter can be publicly shamed and have their vote revoked.

Not sure a sample is really worth building graphs for and basing an argument around when /74%/ of respondents are watching full Charlotte Hornets basketball games. Feels like that’s a pretty clear indicator that your data is unreliable from a research standpoint.
Fans voted LaMelo Ball no. 1 among East guards, yet he wasn't named an All-Star starter.

I surveyed fans who voted for him and media members who didn't. Here's how both groups explained their votes, and what the media is missing about the Melo movement:

The 12 team playoff was a mistake. There are not 12 teams worth playing for the title. Georgia shouldn't be in that convo. (Neither should like 6 other teams still holding out hope)
