A reminder that when Christian Nationalists in the Republican Party lecture you about the importance of "religious freedom," they are not talking about YOUR religion or YOUR freedom. They are talking about THEIR freedom to impose THEIR religion on you.

Went to repost this and then depressingly saw it was from 8 months ago. This is still true, and I am now convinced it will remain true until there are successful primary challenges nationwide to the "roll over and play dead" Dems.
American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

I went to bed in a cold rage. I woke up in cold indifference. Why worry about "Kings" or "Tyrants" or losing the vote. We voted to not get fucked over and we got fucked over anyway. We were as betrayed as any Republican voter who is only now realizing they were lied to. We have ALL been lied to.

Calling the Democrats “cowards” suggests that they're scared to do what's right when they show no fervent interest in being an opposition. They're largely colluders, not cowards. Many want their base to think they're cowards to maintain investment in the idea that they can be pushed to do better.

One wonders. Was the HF offended by the mention of the mistreatment of black soldiers in WWII or the idea that black men were capable of doing anything heroic at all? 😒
1/ The US Government has quietly removed a memorial to Black soldiers who died in World War II from the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, South Limburg. The move follows a complaint from the right-wing Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission. ⬇️

I’ve been writing for a long time about contested and evolving meaning of economic terms like “free enterprise,” and I’m struck that pollsters can ask people whether they have a “positive or negative” image of “capitalism“ or “socialism,” without defining the terms.

Image of Capitalism Slips to 54% in U.S.
Fifty-four percent of Americans, down from 60% in 2021, have a positive opinion of capitalism, while a steady 39% view socialism positively.
