As of today, I am officially retired! I expect my life to change, well, not at all, at least for now (I was already not teaching because it was summer, I still have my research group, and my last grad student will still be at it for a while), but it’s the beginning of the end, anyway.

Anybody else have pets who refuse to drink (or even accept as an additive to wet food) Halifax tap water? Even filtered? We’re kind of beside ourselves. 😩

I have to say, I’m deeply impressed by Nova Scotians making this (and several other similar things in the year and a half I’ve been here) happen through that fury. After 28 years in Alberta it’s nice to be somewhere that sticks up for itself.

It’s Lassy Bun baking time, everyone. 💕
Just in time for the weekend! Note that the 'cream' in this recipe is tinned Fussells Thick Cream. More easily found in Newfoundland, but I've sometimes seen it at Sobeys. If you can't find Fussells, my MIL says Carnation cream (not milk!) also works. I've only ever made it with Fussells though.

As new vehicle prices continue to rise, and tariffs bring uncertainty, many Canadians are delaying or cancelling their plans to buy a personal vehicle. For some Canadians, the answer to their transportation struggles might be an ebike

With surveys suggesting Canadians are feeling the strain from vehicle ownership, many will be looking for an alternative. For many, the answer may lie beyond the car.

One of Partner's degrees is in pharmacy, and while she never worked as a pharmacist for more than just the initial internship/residency, she totally still does this when she's in the US. 😆

The match took place after my preferred bedtime, so I didn’t see what sounded like a wild time, but this is a great summary!
New: There were moments that felt purely Canadian. Goalkeepers shoveled snow. Fraser Aird got pelted with snowballs. And plows took to a pitch that could've doubled as a rink.

My column on a #CanPL Final for the ages.

It's remarkable that PressProgress is doing a campaign like this at all, whereas for Rebel Media it's the core of their business model.

PressProgress is increasingly important as legacy media decays. Slide 'em a few bucks if you can.

Don’t miss I Light HFX. The weather is looking warm (by recent standards) but a little damp. But we won’t let that dampen our spirits, we’re Haligonians!

6pm tomorrow (Saturday, Nov 8) at the Dal Quad by the Dal/Kings Bike Centre.

I’m impressed by all the bike people I know who cycle in all weather, but at heart I’m a fair-weather cyclist (in bad weather I’d actually rather walk). So I’m particularly annoyed that I have a service booked today at Halifax Cycles.
