Ironically, not having to celebrate in a socially acceptable way anymore has actually made me love Christmas! I look forward to it every year. And the best thing is that nobody else needs anything from us for that week because they’re all busy celebrating in a more conventional way.

About 20 years ago, we informed our respective families that we would no longer be celebrating Christmas, and that they could see us but at different times of the year. So now we hole up together for a week to watch movies and read and cook together, and don’t exchange gifts.

I used the prematurely-picked green peppers in recipes, and the smallest ones became "bite-sized" stuffed peppers! Worked nicely.

Update: we still haven't had a hard frost in our little backyard microclimate, but it's coming, so the harvest continues. Last night I picked all the remaining herbs and brought them in for dehydrating (besides the Italian parsley, which I left--dried Italian parsley is boring!).
