Just in time for the weekend! Note that the 'cream' in this recipe is tinned Fussells Thick Cream. More easily found in Newfoundland, but I've sometimes seen it at Sobeys. If you can't find Fussells, my MIL says Carnation cream (not milk!) also works. I've only ever made it with Fussells though.

In light of current reminders about how powerful rich men exploit and assault young women under the safety and guise of various forms of “employment,“ just wanna give a shout out to NYT for this gem last week where we learned about how #metoo *actually* ended harming the workplace. 🙄

World Kindness Day is today! The world definitely needs more of it every day.

"Kindness isn't actually a trickle in the ocean. An act of kindness is more like dropping a stone that creates expanding ripples," says Dr. Junaid Nabi.

My youngest son is currently cursing the fact he never learned cursive in school.

He’s passionate about genealogy, and spent the better part of tonight asking for my help reading old records.

I certainly have a newfound appreciation for this skill!

My mom in rural Yarmouth County has seen the water in her well rise from barely 4 feet due to the drought to more than 8 feet as of Monday.
A wet start to November... for the period 01-12th, thinking 50mm would be close to normal. The locations in red (mostly NS having 100+mm) have already reached or exceeded their monthly average. A number of areas are over 200mm, with Middle River in Cape Breton coming out on top with 268mm.

Part of a eugenic logic is the ongoing belief that erasing disability and people with disabilities is a desirable and commonsense objective.

Was at a craft fair yesterday and a vendor said "Psst. Are you offended by swear words?"

I laughed and said no. She motioned me over: "Check out the hidden messages on our dishcloths!"

I needed a few fun stocking stuffers. And what better message than this for the times we are in?! WTF indeed.

It’s that time of year again! Dug the Fussell’s Cream out of the cupboard and made Lassy Buns (a tasty, soft molasses/ginger treat).

My Newfoundlander husband loves these, especially because I use his mom’s recipe and it reminds him of childhood winters.
