Mine thankfully learned to sign his own name in cursive! But beyond that, it's a hit or miss situation (mostly miss) when reading these old documents. 🙁

A skill that's in decline.

Earlier this year, The National Archives in the U.S. actually put out a call for volunteers to help transcribe historical documents written in cursive.

"These texts can be difficult to read and understand—particularly for Americans who never learned cursive in school."

I am biased, but it truly is a beautiful place! Where are you living now?

It's pretty rare here too, but I would imagine very rare there indeed!

Louisiana is on my bucket list to visit (someday, if/when the U.S. feels safe for visitors again). I've met so many lovely folks from there over the years. Met quite a few in 2024 during the World Acadian Congress here in N.S.

We are in Canada, and that wasn’t an option. Although here in 🇨🇦 there is definitely that sentiment too! Maybe at some point they’ll add it to their collection.

Exactly! 😉

No, as I’m in Canada. Although here in 🇨🇦 there is definitely that sentiment too. So who knows? Maybe at some point they’ll add it to their collection!

Sweetened condensed milk would indeed be too much in sugar content (and consistency).

MIL always said evaporated milk is the best substitute.

But if you can’t get that, I’d try heavy whipping cream. Fussells is 23% M.F., and isn’t a super thick product. It sloshes fairly freely in the tin. 😊

Chewy and delectable gingerbread morsels!

They’re worth trying if soft and chewy gingerbread is your thing!

Hahaha. Cheese pizza is a delightful choice for a Friday night!

We also grew up with no meat on Fridays (French Catholic mother).

Agree 100%!! Nacho night is every Friday in our house. Look forward to it all week!

Such a good line to try and drum up business. Definitely got my attention! They were all out of “Arse” when I was there. 😅
