I've made an insert in honour of Tim, which I hope is a fitting tribute:

"Cycling was Tim's therapy. He was never happier than when on two wheels and his candid storytelling, open heart and generous spirit meant that thousands of people often joined along for the ride."

Today marks White Ribbon Day and the start of Tender's 16 days of activism against Gender-Based Violence.

Two of the most important steps we can take to end gender-based violence are:

1️⃣ Believing women and girls
2️⃣ Educating our children on healthy relationships

This is so unworkable and so unaccepting of basic dignity that it's ludicrous.

It's not "trans people" potentially barred from services based on appearance - it's *anyone*

I'd put money on cis women being most affected by this.

Trans-hate scrambles the brain.

At least 89 Gazans, including children & elderly, are receiving medical treatment in Israel. Most have been in Jerusalem for this purpose since before the war.

But Israel abruptly decided to send all Gazan patients back to Gaza next week.

Unless third countries take them ASAP, many will die 🧵

Thank you @carolinerussell.bsky.social for your report - I was at its launch and the testimonies of survivors and bereaved families was gut wrenching. @london.gov.uk, over to you. Just what will your legacy be, Sadiq ?
If we are going to achieve Vision Zero in London, we need a step change in action.

Helsinki has gone a whole year without a road death. It is possible.

While we watch a live genocide unfold on our screens, the weapons responsible for flattening Gaza and killing thousands of people were being openly exhibited for sale in London.

This market place for ways of killing and maiming people has no place in our city.

By insisting on a largely business-as-usual approach, out-of-touch Western politicians are not only shielding Israel's war criminals from consequences; they are robbing the Israeli protest movement of meaningful arguments to end this travesty.

Farage and co. will tell you to point the finger at migrants.

Don't fall for it.

This is the most meaningful/emotional one of the trip. I came in here with Tim when we’d finished our Cairngorms trip. We had cycled from our camping spot at Loch Insh back to Inverness where we would catch our return train to London, and toasted the ride with a pint and a pizza.

Barely an hour ago, Palestinian journalist Anas Al-Sharif warned us all:

“If this madness doesn’t end, Gaza will be reduced to ruins, its people’s voices silenced, their faces erased — and history will remember you as silent witnesses to a genocide you chose not to stop.”

Israel just killed him.

As a co-chair of @lfpme.bsky.social, I have written to the Foreign Secretary on this and the need for the recognition of Palestine. Recent killings of Palestinians, including mothers and children, by the IDF need to be investigated and held to account.
This week over 60 Labour MPs signed a joint letter to the Foreign Secretary, with many other MPs continuing to add their name or sending the same letter privately.

3 months later, time to revisit this assessment.

-With about 100 killed every day, casualties in Gaza are now as bad as they were under Biden.
-The starvation and hunger games policy is worse

Like Biden, Trump is fully partner in genocide
To be blunt: in terms of empirical facts of life and death in Gaza, the Trump WH has so far been infinitely better than the Biden one. This needs to be said.

For generations, if you came on a visa and applied for asylum, you would generally not be arrested even if your visa expired during the process. That’s over now. They’re arresting everyone, even people who have done legitimately nothing wrong.

What a terrible, awful, inhumane, cruel policy.
