Labour and Co-operative MP for Leeds Central & Headingley
Leeds Central and Headingley’s stake is standing proudly today in the Garden of Remembrance in Parliament.

It was a privilege to place a Poppy for my constituency in the garden earlier this week, to honour the brave who sacrificed their lives for our country.

We will remember them.

🚗 One in five new cars are now purchased through the #Motability Scheme!

We have the opportunity to hugely increase the sales of British cars by stipulating that only British-built cars can be bought by Motability users. Watch me speak on this below. ⬇️

I was shocked and saddened to hear about the incident on the LNER train this weekend.

My thoughts go out to all those affected, and I am wishing them and all those injured a swift and full recovery.

👏 I'm thrilled to share that I am a Vice Chair to the new Climate and Nature Crisis Caucus, led by an incredible group of cross-party MPs.

🌍 The launch of the CNCC is a powerful moment, proof that Parliament’s shared voice for climate and nature is still loud and clear.

🚲 Pleased to support the launch of LNER Beryl Bikes in Leeds alongside Mayor of West Yorkshire. More e-bikes and bays make it simpler for people to cut congestion and pollution, and enjoy our brilliant city.

I'm horrified by the reports of an attack on the Jewish community at Heaton Park synagogue, on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. My thoughts are with the victims and their families, and all those affected by this horrific attack.

Earlier this week I played for Yorkshire at the Tag Rugby League Game at Labour Conference.

I was proud to score the final try off a pass by Jamie Jones-Buchanan to help Yorkshire win.

Dickie Bird was a wonderful man and a great humanitarian.

It was an honour to spend the day with him during the Pakistan test in 2018.

His work with young people and his generosity to Barnsley Hospital shone through.

We’ll not see his like again. May his memory be a blessing

British-Egyptian Alaa Abdel Fattah has been granted a presidential pardon. I have advocated for this, including by writing to the Chair of Egyptian Foreign Affairs Cttee

This is welcome news, but now we must call for him to be allowed to travel to the UK to join family
