There are no easy answers during this time. Sometimes we need to sit and be present with our sadness and our disappointment. Sometimes we need to channel that energy in to organizing and helping people near us however we can. And sometimes we just need to cry and scream.

Part of why we are where we are is that few people on any point of the political spectrum actually take racism seriously.

Gentle reminder to anyone who needs it today: The more you use technology to replace the things you used to do for for yourself, the less you will be able to do them. That goes for writing, walking, thinking, communicating, making things, and all the things humans used to be pretty good at.

Nobody exists exclusively through the lens of struggle. Pick the worst eras, the most oppressed people. You will find rich heritages of art, music, fashion, and games that survived it. Were pioneered during it. Thrived in the midst of it. Why? Because these things give our survival *meaning.*

Easily the right’s greatest propaganda win was branding DEI as “forcing companies to hire unqualified black candidates” when in reality it forced companies to hire qualified black candidates instead of unqualified white ones.
Removing a black 4-star general at Secretary of Defense and replacing him with a white talk-show is the perfect example why DEI is essential. It's not about hiring unqualified minorities, it’s about foiling the majority's habit of hooking up under qualified mediocrities of their own caste.

Minimizing Target came way before they cut DEI

Once they pulled back on Black beauty brands, there was no real reason for me to shop there.

Some Senior VP at Target: Sir we thought The Blacks (TM) would let this go and come back but they haven't come back. They haven't come back sir!

CFO: The line must go up, but it keeps going down!

CEO, wearily removing glasses: It's time

SVP: Sir, you don't mean--

CEO: Get me Al Sharpton

Y'all are going to be begging for DEI to come back. Because this is peak whiteness right now, and it's looking pretty damn inept.

We'll have to reuse the grinds. 😭

How many times can we run those through?
If you were trying to give up coffee or alcohol, these tariffs might have helped with pushing you in that direction.

A lot of people like to dismiss racism as insubstantial to material realities but we’re watching a nation burn trillions of dollars in wealth to entrench a racial system of domination.

Yes! The leadership of Eastern Michigan and Michigan State have displayed incredible courage during these times.

A few years ago I visited the National Museum of African American History & Culture with my grandparents. When we stepped out of the building my grandmother kept repeating the words “I lived it. I lived it. I lived it.”

She’s still here. That history is still in her bones. You can never erase that.
