My biggest question is - where are all the Libertarians during all this?

Wasn't this the moment they've prepared for for decades?

I always thought they were full of shit, but I'm surprised I was so correct. Did ANY of them actually believe in what they said, non-stop?

The stock market remains the one place where politics don't matter

The stock market doesn't care about platitudes

It doesn't care about the promises you made

It doesn't care about the lies you tell voters

It cares about what you do - good, bad or otherwise

I can't hard same hard enough.
There is nothing more obviously inevitable to me than everyone eventually concluding that, no, you can't work with the Trump admin., you can't "find areas of compromise," you can't treat this as normal politics, the only option is total, unremitting opposition. Everyone will get there eventually.

I feel kind of naive about it but I really assumed that putting an obviously insane dilettante shithead and sex creep into this particular office would be a bridge too far for the Senate. In retrospect I underrated how much more important it was to them to prove that such a concept no longer exists.
I understand the list of things this man has said and done is long but that he tweeted that COVID was engineered to spare Jews and Chinese people less than two years ago and is now HHS secretary is truly toxic icing on the antivax cake, to me

Seems futile to point this stuff out anymore, but Musk and Trump holding a photo op to tout all the “corruption” DOGE has found on the same day Trump’s DOJ announced it would no longer investigate foreign governments who try to bribe U.S. officials was some real Orwell-level messaging.

In the Soviet Bloc, the Communist Party assigned political minders/ commissars to every school, factory, army unit, etc to ensure ideological compliance and loyalty to the regime. Hiring was based on class background and demonstrated loyalty.

Obviously, this is very different.
This new EO signed today appears to create DOGE as a shadow government across the entire federal government. Each agency/dept will be assigned a DOGE minder who will work with the Secry or Director and essentially be in charge of all new hiring and/or firing. People have been saying the Elon is ...

Lots of people saying, "just wait until the consequences hit!"

I would remind you that last time Trump was president, he botched a pandemic & a million Americans died. As a result, he was reelected & Americans turned on their own public health agencies.
