Don’t ask how this will serve their policy goals.

Ask how it will serve the coup.

Science has empowered us to have greater confidence in what we know. It gives us harder facts, that make it more difficult to lie about them.

It’s an alternative source of power and authority.

Trump won’t be done until there are no alternatives and he can lie unchallenged.

NEW: Judge William Young's ruling against Rubio and Noem is a lesson for all in the Trump era.

Young lays bare the unconstitutionality of the Trump administration's student deportation efforts — and issues a challenge to America.

Congresswoman-elect Adelita Grijalva hasn't been sworn in, so she has to roam Congress with an escort

I saw her this morning going through security along visitors — something lawmakers don't need to do when walking into the Capitol

“At this point, I can’t hire staff. We don’t have an office. I can’t get around without being escorted,” Arizona’s incoming House Democrat, Adelita Grijalva, said Tuesday.

Most of the power authoritarians have is freely given. We should not comply with them in advance.

Trump is far weaker than he looks. So is the GOP. We should draw them out, drain them at every opportunity, and fight for people’s wellbeing at every turn.

We have been sent here to fight for people.
AOC: I think there's two things that are happening at once: One, there absolutely is an unprecedented abuse of power, destruction of norms, erosion of our government and our democracy in order to prop up an authoritarian style of governance

However, they are weaker than they look…

Every single one of these clips was taken today in downtown Portland. Portland doesn’t want or need a federal takeover. If Trump insists on sending federal “resources” he can start with funding health care, bridges, affordable housing, and wildfire protection to name a few.

Some conservatives are saying that Kilmeade’s “Just kill them” comment is less horrifying when you see it in context.

So here’s a longer clip, where you hear almost 4 minutes of Fox couch banter before he says it.

And, uh, it’s not much better. At all.

💯. The longer clips from the program demonstrate the discussion had fully pivoted from the individual perpetrator of the North Carolina murder to the general question of what to do with the homeless. In saying we should "just kill 'em," the host was proposing mass murder.
