I wrote about Inglourious Basterds.

How it's themes of blending in, standing out and moral flexibility and inflexibility may be hidden in the subtext. But they're there. And that's why the movie has stuck with me.
Two Basterds walk into a bar…
Two men emerge from the mountains to do a job. To defeat their nation’s enemies. One from the Alps, one from the Smokeys. They both enter a world where everyone must pretend to be something they’re…

it's gonna be weird but i gotta start fundraising for this proof of concept short by the end of the month.

it'll be easier for me on here than on other platforms methinks.

i just love the suicide squad so much. gunn makes movies that are nasty and straight from a comic book. yet full of ideas and heart. comics are like, what if we take the dirty dozen then make it nasty and goofy, and gunn's not afraid to mix tones like that.

Why do I as a YIMBY want to cut housing developers' costs? "The fluctuation of supply and demand always bring the price of a commodity back to its cost of production... Not only the supply, but also the demand, is determined by the cost of production" -MARX, 1847 www.marxists.org/archive/marx...

Schroedinger’s apartment building: simultaneously raising and lowering property values by being full of both rich and poor people.
It's very funny that in an urban context people say that apartments will destroy the neighborhood by bringing rich people in and in a suburban context people say that apartments will destroy the neighborhood by bringing poor people in. Is 'funny' the right word?
Building new housing does not destroy neighborhoods. Single family homes are the most expensive and luxurious form of housing, which is why nearly all rich people live in them.

at this point, Los Angeles is the most NIMBY city in the country.

I am not a socialist myself, but give me a socialist YIMBY like Zohran or Katie Wilson over a liberal NIMBY like Karen Bass any day of the week.
After failing to stop a major state housing bill from becoming law, Los Angeles leaders are turning to plan B: Delaying Senate Bill 79's implementation and pushing for unspecified legislative changes next year. My dispatch for @politico.com Pro subscribers subscriber.politicopro.com/article/2025...
POLITICO Pro: Los Angeles failed to defeat a major housing law, so it's turning to Plan B: Delay, delay, delay
A report from the city planning department outlines strategies for pushing off many of the effects of SB 79 through 2030.

ive been spoiled on season 2, but i like peacemaker because it's sorta an inverse of captain america.

Peacemaker is kinda fucked up. he has a dark past, and he doesnt know how to process it in the present. can he move forward? can he become a better man?

“SB 827 was a BC/AD event for housing policy in America,” @hanlon.bsky.social says. “We’re not going to solve this through marginal tax credit, low-income housing projects. No. You just need to legalize fucking apartment buildings.”
Scott Wiener defeated California’s NIMBYs. Can he fix America’s housing crisis?
By running for Nancy Pelosi's House seat, he's putting the abundance theory to the test.

Seiha (or Conquest, or Domineering) is a criminally underrated Yakuza film by Nakajima Sadao. It's cinematically playful, well paced, and has a great performance by Toshirô Mifune as an aging mob boss.

you could fact check this — there aren’t 30 million illegal immigrants and there is no evidence that the presence of an immigrant in say houston has any impact on housing in madison, wisconsin — or you could note straightforwardly that this is just nazi rhetoric
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."
