Again, there's nothing functionally different about people from an outgroup wanting housing in high demand cities and people from an ingroup wanting housing in high demand cities, so this is just bigotry masked as economic analysis.
FOX NEWS: Do you believe that the number of people who came into the country illegally is one of the major factors that drove up housing prices?

FED GOV STEPHAN MIRAN: I absolutely believe that's the case

A reminder, a person who claims to be a YIMBY but backs the deportation of people to "solve" the housing crisis is just a NIMBY.

Two things pop into mind:

1. If JD wants to replace 30M illegal immigrants with 30M WASP US citizens, how would he solve the housing crisis then?

2. If JD DOESN'T want to do that and just immolate 30M people in order to solve the housing crisis, that makes his reasoning sociopathic.
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."

Guys, you're still trying to have the feds build high speed rail. I told you we can't do it, and we can't do it. Now, what we might be able to do is build it with local mayors. Link a national high speed rail system in the aggregate.

"I don't have any kids in school, so why am I paying property taxes for schools I don't use?"

I'm sorry, did you pay for the schools that you used when you were a kid? No? Then pay up.

Senate Democrats will be like "we're against gerrymandering and the Electoral College because it against the principle of one person, one vote" and then support an institutional rule in the body that is most violative of that principle to make it even worse.
The filibuster has become a fascinating litmus test of the chasm separating D senators from their voters. It's not just a disagreement. Ending the filibuster is now close to an article of faith among D voters; for the Senators it's like abolishing habeas or trial by jury. Unthinkable, unamerican.

The consequences of three-cueing reached the global elite.
QANON CULTIST IN 2017: "In this 1,879 page thread I will unravel the byzantine system of codewords and phrases the global elite use to mask their pedophile cabal."

JEFFREY EPSTEIN WRITING AN EMAIL AT THE SAME TIME: "helo its me jeff had fun cmmitting sex crimes wit u lst weeknd"
pretty funny in retrospect that QAnon hinged on the idea that powerful elites at the highest levels of government were smart enough to talk in code when sending emails to each other about their despicable crimes

The problem for property taxes is that a) there's a cap at how high the rate can be before it starts to hurt new construction, b) that cap leads to sales/income taxes being passed, c) those taxes cause deadweight loss, & d) the ill effects of DWL get blamed on PTs. Land value tax would solve this.
it's really funny how Texas and Florida are competing in a race to adopt the most idiotic property tax system known to man
i think it's cool how Republicans are independently converging on neo-feudalism

Really great that the founders were like "sure, the Senate is anti-democratic in that it creates severe malapportionment, but what if it was also anti-democratic in that it shields representatives from immediately being held accountable?"
The caucus meeting was just to orchestrate who would fall on the sword but not be up for a vote in 2026.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)
