Taxes on land value, pollution & IP should replace taxes on work. Split DC into 127 states to achieve a supermajority to make the Constitution fair. #LVT #UBI

Trump also does the most annoying thing a sports announcer does: use an acronym followed by what the acronym stands for.

"The play is an RPO, a run/pass option."
"Another TFL, a tackle for loss, for the defense."

Either use the acronym and assume people know what you mean, or just say the words!
Trump: "We are going to have the Save America Act, one way or the other ...

1. ALL VOTERS MUST SHOW VOTER I.D. (IDENTIFICATION!).

2. ALL VOTERS MUST SHOW PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP IN ORDER TO VOTE.

3. NO MAIL-IN BALLOTS (EXCEPT FOR ILLNESS, DISABILITY, MILITARY, OR TRAVEL!)."

I've been teaching about the far-right now for like, 3 years, and the best I've come up with (from a class analysis POV) is that they are a particularly middle class neurosis, tied particularly to rentism, inheritance and economic entitlement.
i think the issue is that no one really has a good theory of the radical right and its relationship to class politics or the economy and so we retreat to vague tropes
This entire quote chain re US Taiwan policy, but also, AOC also fucked up by attributing AfD to rising inequality (in fact, inequality under Ampel if anything fell a little, from already decently low levels). At some point someone will have the anti-fascist chops to use words like "traitors."

It seems in the current state of the housing market that the property tax acts like a land value tax because supply restrictions on building housing has made the housing structures themselves a land-like asset in that the tax isn't the limiting factor on increased supply at current levels of supply.

New York should absolutely raise its property taxes instead of its income taxes. This article is all over the place and the problem is nobody really understands (including me, a guy that has gone down the rabbit hole a bit on this) how fucked up NYCs taxation is. www.nytimes.com/2026/02/17/n...

1. I would vote for anyone who could win a Democratic primary in 2028
2. I will vote for the most credible left candidate in the primary
3. The two-party system is bad and we should replace it with proportional representation
4. The presidency is bad and we should replace it with a Prime Minister

Clearly I remember pickin' on the boy
Seemed a harmless little fuck, ooh
But we unleashed the lion
Gnashed his teeth and said okay, how can I forget?
And he hit me with a surprise right
My jaw left hurting, ooh, dropped wide open

So, which of you fine gentlemen would like to win the Texas Senate GOP Primary? Oh, there's only one spot open right now, so we're gonna have... tryouts.

It's embarrassing that the white nationalists use "Heritage Americans" as the moniker for what is a "real" American when both of Trump's paternal grandparents were German immigrants and his mother was a Scottish immigrant. That's not a "heritage American" story, but it is an American story.

Like a true racist, Trump would think there's no difference between an ape and a monkey (especially in relation to using them as stand-ins for making bigoted comparisons), which as a mandrill, Rafiki is a monkey.

I'm a free fare person but definitely see the improvement that was made to the BART experience by more rigorously stopping fare evaders. I just think that using fares to combat the effects of unrelated social problems is a poor way to defend fare collection, but it doesn't excuse lawless behavior.
Somewhere there a balance between “SF should entirely be Disneyland” and “SF should entirely be the 1980s NYC subway and/or 6th and Mission” - and this take definitely skews one way
